Heya guys so thats my second grow, after running a succesfull bag seeds grow from litteraly nothing (started with 5 bulbs of cfl 50cm away from plants and no idea what am i doing at all.. eventually yielded 150g dry bud under 250w HPS dual on coco coir..
This time I started in my closet with 8 bag seeds, 6 sprouted and to make long story short all turned female and gave away 2 of 'em to a friend. done that in a 100x50x50 closet under a 250w MH in a DIY simple DWC Bubbler (air pump + stone), that's my first time Hydro and i wanted to share with the problems ive encountered and how ive dealt with them.
Vegging period aprx 7-8 weeks, ended May 6th.
So at first, growth was good and fast only on the big one, which is now my biggest girl.. on the left there's one plant that barely died in the bubbler, even worst than the dying one on top.. yellow brown leaves and purple stems.. revived it easily on coco coir and when it was ready to go back to the bubbler i took it out of the coco and gave the roots a very nice and slow shower, then soaked in ph'ed water in a temporary bubbler for a couple of days until all coco pieces went away and as well to re-adjust it to full hydro
This is how they looked like at about week 2
Week 3, seperated the 2 better looking plants into one res. and the other little 3 in another one, another plant is almost dying in a seperate smaller bucket. they looked like this:
the main thing i thought slowing down the weaker plants was ph fluctuation and weird discoloration on leaves that looked maybe like a calcium def as well with brown colouration on roots which was some slime, in was in both buckets, seems like the strong genetics didnt care of the slime and kept on growing strong and green. tried taking care of that slime with h202 for no avail, it only slows it down for a day or two...
slime looked like this:
again making long story short this wasnt ph fluct, and no calcium def, maybe just a tiny bit, but moving to 75% r\o water and maintaining proper WATER TEMP even without a chiller fixed all problems, just used frozen bottles whenever temps went above 21c, trying to maintain 18-19c though could be a hard task - in April and May it was pretty cool with water going to no more than 23c but now it gets up to 30c where i live and non chilled water would go as high as 26c under the lamp, so am changing bottles every 3 hours, at lights off its pretty easier, gets up to 23c, so 1 bottle before i go to sleep helps a lot..
That's a pic from about week 5 veg, you can see the revived plant in the temporary bucket, at this point it was struggling probably form the move back to hydro after a couple of weeks in coco..besides that, all plants look green and happy, one thing i remember helping alot was buying a new Milwaukee PH Meter and letting the PH drift from 5.5 to 6.2 then change water..
Ive topped \ fimmed each of them 3-4 times
EC in veg was at most 0.8
Nutes: ATAMI Series, Sensi calmag, ATAZYME
After another week or two they already filled my small closet and looked like that: (look how nice the struggling plant looks like!)
Then moved to a 170x120x60 tent and looked like this:
Then figured I need some more temporary blue lights so i fixed up this 100watts cfl thingie for real cheap..
as well felt creative and made a quick scrog which i removed as i manually feed and moving the plants in \ out of the scrog hurts them too much..
~~~~~~~FLIPPING TO 12\12 - May 7th ~~~~~~
due to space limitations, I gave away a plant to a friend and stayed with the 5 best looking ones.
as well upgraded to 2 x 250w Sunmaster Duals
First day of flip looked like this
Now started raising nutes a little bit as well shifting slowly to flower nutes
2 weeks into flower and we have some lil buds! all plants turned female! even the 2 i gave my friend!
Equip Upgrade - May 31st
Got a carbon filter and a cooltube. (didnt connect the tapeworm yet)
Philips Greenpower 400w HPS from the left to the center and a 250w Sunmaster Dual on the right, covering the depth of the tent and not the width, which I found helpfull as of my buckets placement and plants size \ structure.
as well gave them a good defoliation
June 4th, week 3 flower
Temps and humidity starting to raise, the ambient temp \ rh is about 27c and 60% with lights on and ac on.
