I stays on the bud for a while though. Sometimes when I pollinate a bud with only 8-10 pistils, it makes 30-40 seeds.Only the individual pistols (hairs) that have been touched by viable pollen will produce seed. In nature it is usually wind and pollinators that spread it around to the female plants.
Yeah I can see that happening. So as the plant makes new pistols the pollen residue either on the plant itself or in your grow space gets moved around in the air so the new growth gets pollinated too with the lingering pollen.I stays on the bud for a while though. Stays on the right branch real good even with the fans.Yeah I can see that happening. So as the plant makes new pistols the pollen residue either on the plant itself or in your grow space gets moved around in the air so the new growth gets pollinated too with the lingering pollen.
Only the bud on the right should have seeds. The stud was a landrace Colombian. The seeds will likely have spectacular vigor like my last cross. Is that the one that’s pollinated? You’re only making seeds right? What’s the story behind....wait nevermind I’ll read the rest of the thread lol. I won’t be that guy hahaha.
That’s awesome. Wait a sec... so you’re getting seeds from only one bud, then the other flowers will be clean and free to smoke?Only the bud on the right should have seeds. The stud was a landrace Colombian. The seeds will likely have spectacular vigor like my last cross.
yesThat’s awesome. Wait a sec... so you’re getting seeds from only one bud, then the other flowers will be clean and free to smoke?
You just blew my mind. I had no idea you could do that. So...here’s an odd question.. does one single piece of pollen create one seed?
I have done this many times. Its easy you just isolate your pollen on only one part of the plant. That’s awesome. Wait a sec... so you’re getting seeds from only one bud, then the other flowers will be clean and free to smoke?
How long do you let the pollen dry before freezing?Buds are smelling like lemon pledge no skunk. Still collecting pollen. Froze 2 packs so far.
Ya from what I here moisture is the worst thing for it so a change in humidity when popping it open could be the cause. Well I’ll be collecting and freezing tonight then.Idk. I just collect it for a few days. I guess it's drying while being collected. When I have enough, I put in in a little pouch made from glossy paper and freeze in a jar of uncooked rice. It worked after 1.5years and failed after 2 years. I think the fail might be from taking the jar out and refreezing to many times.
The first time I tried I put all the pollen in one pack so it was in and out. That was a mistake. Now I'm making several smaller packs.Ya from what I here moisture is the worst thing for it so a change in humidity when popping it open could be the cause. That’s how I pictured it in my mind honestly. Several small containers (the same kind seeds come in) and put a little pollen in each. Now are you able to use the pollen immediately after taking out of the freezer? The first time I tried I put all the pollen in one pack so it was in and out. That was a mistake. Yeah I take it out and put it on a dish, then use a little paint brush to apply 10min later. That’s how I pictured it in my mind honestly.
