your welcome buddy anytime and yeah I must say I am having fun with the uc this thing really does the damn thing I am glad I bought it.Thx bud! That's the same filter as mine... It's been really fun running this system and all the great ideas to allow for easy cleanings, as well as modular concepts along with the ability to make individual upgrades... :nod
Found these clear PVC inline filters...they are kinda pricey but being able to "see" inside the filter is PRICELESS!

Anyone know where to get cheaper ones? There was a link posted but cant seem to find it now.
Thanks again RMCG!
What is the difference between the y strainer and the "mini t-line" type other than price?
Also, what micron mesh size should one get for the UC? 80?
Excellent info!
Beautiful work so far man.. your extra holes are even not covered on the lids and you have no algae problems? And running H&G I hope your flowers come out bad ass. I know there is a lot of debate on the H&G line for flower finish but your rocking it man. I got nothing bad to say about any company its just everyone has their own individual results and everything is a learning curve.. lets see some more roots would ya?

Not sure on the 'real' difference. The UC's come with the Y strainer. Price maybe? Maintenance? Flow rate?
I don't think mesh size really matters. You aren't filtering 'the water', just trying to keep hydroton and roots from clogging up your pump yet still allow water to pass through.
Those are nice. Not sure I would want clear though. I just picture that turning green with algae.
Motherlode had posted up a grainger link, but then found another one too.
Here you go:
one reason I like the clear ones is the catch area is much bigger then those small ass black y ones - it aint gonna take much to plug up that Y filter
I would just sit the clear filter inside a another cup so light dont hit it, but you can still easily do a visual inspection
Lost is that your system?
