New Thread

BudRanger's Perpetual Odyssey | Indoor | Living Soil | LED

Hello and welcome! I have just finished up my first grow in about 4 years. Plants are hanging to dry, and now that the "return" part is over I am starting a perpetual thread. I learnt a lot from the good people here so I think Ill stick around 😛. You can find my previous thread in the spoiler...

Great! The more people that try the 24 hour method the sooner we will know if its worth doing or not. My friend swears by it and he works with clones, so it should be even more noticeable with seeds since they are different phenotypes and hence not all go at the same pace necessarily. (Not even clones but its way more likely that most of them are gonna go at the same pace)
About the top dressing well it depends when you gave the last one I would say and how often its recommended by your brand. The thing I can help you with is this, during the first 3 weeks of flower they stretch a lot like I told you so thats why people give them either veg nutes or 50-50 veg bloom nutes during that time.

I've seen a recent shift lately with veg and bloom nutes what's the method to the madness there can you please explain

More than making flowering faster (a few days at most) is so they all start at the same time (so you dont have plants with different harvest times occupying your indoors preventing you to start the next badge). The 1 to 3 days of dark before harvest is suposed to boost terpenes since the plant uses the dark cycle to restore terpenes that evaporate during the day. I do that aswell, does it work? Im not sure but I could swear they are smellier after 1-2 days of dark before harvest. Meantime, the beforementioned friend says he notices nothing different with that technique, so I dont know for sure either. Going back to the 1 day of dark before the change of cycle, the plants will do what they do at dark as long as they are at dark, they recognize that light should have appeared but since they cant do day activities they keep doing night activities. In the case of realizing its time to swap, that night activity is basically triggering flower with chemicals. You can easily tell that they keep doing night activities if you for example forget to put the timer in auto and they dont have light, if you open the tent even if they were suposed to be doing day activities they will be "sleeping" with the caracteristic slightly droopy leaves. Also I never said it works , I said my friend uses that technique and I used it in my current grow and only one is slightly behind and they didnt get stunted or anything, not overly stressed, eating as usual too. That said, it could have been pure luck, with just 1 try I cant tell you it works, he swears by it and I trust him enough to try it, his weed is really, really good. Perhaps its just in his mind, but I figured its worth the shot.

I've heard that aswell but I believe that it does work better if you gradually lower you light times into flower instead of a straight flip I reduce the hours by half an hour each side of the light on period until it's at 11 on 13 off this makes them turn really nice it only takes 6 days to reduce hours but it sets the plant up better for the flowering period especially if your running big sativas you don't do a veg cycle especially from clone this way the seedling/striking stage is 18/20 on and 4/6 off for seedlings stage three weeks and the first week of veg is spent reducing hours so it's like 3 transitional weeks I've done plenty of 24 hr veg trials and they don't need a down time in veg you just back the lights off to match the dli to keep the vpd in range either heater or I use the ir adlite people say you should not ever use when the lights are on but bulldust if you don't have a big veg time and your growing sea of green you can use it to bring leaf surfaces temps up to open stomata in short bursts every few hours it makes them stretch a little because if the shade effect but it also makes the leaves really big and in a week with using that aswell as using it to signal wake up and sleep time and it cuts veg times down heaps and in the last week I switch to veg settings I turn off add light deep red and leave the lights on for 48 hours of white light and UV Dr Bruce Busby says this is the last two days and chop at the end of 48 hours when lights are on still and to dont stress them at all and drop the temps down into the teens to preserve terps and thc
