I recently tried running hoods without ducting or glass and man the light was way too intense. They aren't meant to be run like that. I had an adjust a wing right next to a hood with no glass and the buds under the wing were fire and the buds under the hood were the most heat stressed things I have ever seen in my life.

You should just hang bare bulbs vertically or invest in some cheap bat wing reflectors.

I respectfully disagree @FooDoo the bulbs weren't ment to be vented. The hotter the bulb runs the more light will be emitted. So if you burn your plants that's kinda user error as you just needed more distance between bulb and plant, this in turn gives you more coverage bigger yields. That's why the newest hoods on the market pull air from behind the reflector as to not cool the bulb but still remove some heat. But imo if you need heat removed that just says to me they undersizing ac and cutting corners. And vert wastes a lot of light if your not set up to do vert grows

I know they weren't meant to be vented. But those hoods were designed to be vented. That's why I suggested bat wings or bare bulbs. Don't think you comprehended what I wrote correctly

I understand what you are saying. But like I said above that's user error, I assure you based on personal experience and watch others succeed doing so. And you can too, just move your light up 8-16"

Hey everybody I wanna have a little fun keeping track of my grow and showing others how I do my own thing as well.
I personally plan to become a commercial grower in my future and take very much pride in everything I grow, for I have a passion in the growing department. I have currently been growing for 2 years and this will be my 7th harvest ever and my 2nd harvest ever in my unfinished basement.
Hope everyone enjoys!
Investors are ALWAYS welcome! ;)
Hey brother welcome to the farm! Your plants look great, what kind of nutes do you run if you don't mind me asking? Yes nice canopies, glad to see another open medical farmer on here:)
PPL! Lets not get caught up in his name, he is a new farmer (not new to growing but new here)
He needed a name. That's it. He is now Mmjcaveman. Can't make someone change their name.

Thanks for all the input guys I do understand what you are saying when you say "they were meant for venting" although i have a temperature gun to make sure the leaves don't go above 80° for one which is step number one always, secondly my lights in the front of the room are all on light rails moving constantly as long as the 1000s are running giving me better capability at getting a little closer than normal to my canopy due to no heat buildup in one constant spot, and I also run an excel air systems 4 ton air conditioner with a 30 foot fabric duct that does evenly disperse cold air throughout the entire room and has the capability of pulling around 2500cfm, and a carbon scrubber on the opposite end of the room with a 12" fan blowing air back to the air conditioner and making a infinite back and forth air flow, along with 11 fans in this room constantly pushing the air back and forth as it crosses the room, it's pretty cool. I'm sure with that said you know that I am okay to run no glass 1000s.

Thanks for the backup on the name lol no biggie tho guys I truly made this up on my own in 10 seconds while making an account.

I run success nutrients by 3 A LIGHT.
I do have other special blends of teas and such but for core nutrients we strictly use success nutrients.

We are currently on day four of flower and are seeing great things to come, as all plants have beautiful white roots coming out of the bottom of their buckets and the plants all reacted very well to the light swap (600w to 1000w). Check out the pics! where are the leaves? Don't ask haha!
All of the plants are thriving 110%

recaping and filling in on the post about nutrients. We hand feed evrythibg we have from grow Dan 1x1s, 6x6 and 5 gallon buckets, reason being is even watering. If you can't tell in the last picture posted all plants runoff to the drain after coming out of first bucket into second bucket. Even the veg rooms are tied into this same drain behind the wall

Niiice. Love seeing them bare ladies early in flower. Do you give them another defoliate a little later in flower? I give mine on days 4-7 and 21-24 depending on strain.

Going into day seven and all plants are thriving at full potential, we are starting to see nice long silver pistols which is making me very excited! Plants are feeding almost everyday a serving of 1.25 gallons! They're soaking up those 1000watts like they knew it was coming! Keep up and look forward to seeing some bright colorful flowers

Bro it is the bees knees I came up with this concept myself one day after flooding a saucer and man as long as you do as I did and put one inside of the other with holes in the bottom of the first one you will have success because the second bucket sits around 4-6inches above the bottom of the second bucket so it will never back up enough to hit the roots. The floor is flat although most are so you should have no problem at all. I have all 48 plants on this system and I also have 44 plants on flood tables running off the same drain I will show everyone my setup tomorrow, ALONG WITH THOSE PICS! The lights shut off at 5 and I got busy watering today. I have a recent picture of the bottom of my first bucket I posted in this reply the picture with the two tables is a photo of the elephant purple I have in flower when they were little girls

I'm digging the system! I will incorporate something like that in my box next year. Right now my lights are maxed out and the Gorilla Glue won't stop stretching. I planned on flipping right after roots, but the first one ended up getting a couple weeks of veg. Next time I'll probably just grow Indica. Keep the pics coming.
