Hello everyone I have a ? For whoever wants to answer.lol.i wanna start growing my own plants ,Im prob only going to do 2 starting off but it's been 20years since I attempted growing and i know it's allot products out there so my question is what would be the easiest and lowest maintenance strain should I do to get back into the game again.??should I choose something small and auto flower

If you want low maintenance go organic, less watering , and mixing nutrients. I’ll drop a guide here https://www.thcfarmer.com/threads/growing-with-gaia-green-shadeds-method.140538/

If you have any questions we’ll guide you. Also with auto flowers if you screw up there’s no coming back. You’re stuck with a messed up plant the whole time.

If you can learn to read an EC meter and PH drop indicator, I truly believe growing in Coco is the easiest method of growing indoors. I run hempy buckets and only water once every 3 days with foliage pro SEED to finish. Organic is great, but you'll need a large container or if doing small container will need to dress more etc. 1.2 EC from the day it pops ground til harvest. Good luck!

Imagine having to read EC and Ph and mix nutrients everytime. Not low maintenance. I came from coco. Doing my first organic grow now and it's just on cruise control. I don't do shit. and my pot is 7 gallons. which is about 10x12 inches.

You find the proper feed one time and just remember how much of pH up down and nutes lol how is that difficult

On top of that people claim organic gives you better flavor. I'm running clones from last coco grow so we'll see how it goes.

Well i've never fed 1 strength of feed the whole way through so ill be honest on that. But don't disreguard you have to mix multiple nutrients everytime. But on top of that you get salt build up very easily. Or is there a trick to that too?

I do DTW, hempy, SIP Coco all the same strength seed to harvest. 1.2 EC with grow nutrients of your choice. Never had salt buildup etc unless you overfeed.

Interesting. Well tbh I still have 2 coco plants in my 4x8 tent because I was nervous about going organic but it's too easy... My coco plants in 7 gallon fabric pots that need about 5 gallons of water total every 2-3 days (2 days if it's plain water) . It's alot of work. And i'll be honest I just wanted to see what you'd say about salt build up. I haven't gotten it since I started giving plain water every other feed. But yeah you must be getting A TON of runoff if you don't have a buildup with 1.2 EC What nutrient line do you use?

Foliage Pro no calmag or silica but keep in mind I do use tap water. Ive tried every nute you can think of...the FP keeps my plants green til the end.

Sounds much easier than the GHtrio plus calmag plus silica lol. Another plus for me is Organic gets no runoff so I don't have to empty saucers. It was just a lot of little things that added up for me.

Switching to organic saved me from quitting I was literally ready to give up last grow I was doing 17 1 gallon pots of coco. omg . I almost died toward the end of flower. SO MUCH WORK mixing 5 nutrients. Catching runoff 2-3 times a day.

I'm definitely not against organic at all...I do Dr earths outdoor, but again even for organic I stand by my belief, veg nutes til the end. So something like Dr earth veg.

How come you say that?

I've grown in practically every medium you can think of with practically every different type of fertilizer regime you can think of.

In my humble opinion, "easiest" really depends on what you have to work with. Do you have the time to stay on top of them or is your lifestyle fairly busy?

I prefer growing in soil as I feel it is the easiest to grow in since it will correct little errors that you may commit unlike a medium like rockwool. It has it's own cons but, again, in my opinion, the pros outweigh the cons.

I was able to leave my tent closed for 6 weeks while the girls were in flower without touching them. I'd say that's pretty easy but you have to know how to set them up to do that.

If you're interested you can check out the grow diary I did and see if you can pull some ideas that will make your reintroduction into cultivation easier.

Good Luck and Welcome to the Farm!

A guy by the name of Homebrewer on RIU had some posts that I came across claiming that you can use a veg nute like DynaGrow or Foliage Pro, Maxigrow etc til the end. No bloom. I thought this must be a myth, but was intrigued. Once I tried it for a single run it was like a switch flipped in my head. Every single thing everyone told me about how you need PK etc for flower was instantly questionable as I saw every single fan leaf completely green and healthy until the day I chopped by using just a single grow nutrient the whole way through. Tried the Maxibloom and Floranova KISS method, nothing came close to FP or DynaGrow.

Very interesting stuff will have to do some experimenting

Green is N primarily which of course is in qty in veg nutes. Green DOES NOT tell the whole story.

Feeding high levels / proportions of N to PK in flower has been shown via peer reviewed testing to significantly decrease cannabinoids. That seems important.

Wanna know if your plants need PK - try measuring brix. It will be obvious.

I'm not saying it can't be done - I'm saying why would you when this process of cannabis maturity is so well understood and documented? You could probably live for years eating nothing but cheeseburgers, but you would be healthier if you ate a balanced diet, right?

What do you gain by only feeding veg nutes? I just really don't get it.

I gain the simplicity of dank buds by using a single nutrient. Most people feed too high P in flower and cause premature yellowing etc. By keeping my fan leaves green until the end, my buds have the energy to swell and stay happy. Have you ever tried it?
