Hey Everyone,

Hoping to get some advise on my setup as im in the middle of expanding a bit to be able to do some cloning/self pollinating/breeding experimentation.

Basically I know I need to add something new in terms of lighting but not sure how I should shuffle things around to make it work most efficiently and get the best bang for my buck with any upgrades. My setup also runs partially off a solar generator so trying to keep things as efficient as possible and not burn through power unnecessarily.

Tents: oversized spiderfarmer 4x2, vevosun 4x2, spiderfarmer 2x2.

Lights: SF2000, Vivosun 200w light, optic 1 XL cobb light, an older platinum LED P300 that I havent used in a while but have available. I don't like that it's a blurple and lack any dimming capability.

I previously stuck both the 200w lights in the oversized spiderfarmer and was getting great PPFD in the entire space without ever having to go past 70% of their max. but now I need one of those lights for the other 4x2 if ill be running them simultaneously.

Thoughts on what to add that would make sense based on what I already have available? I was thinking of either adding an AC infinity 2x2 light for the 2x2 tent, doing the vivosun in the 4x2, and the optic XL and SF2000 in the oversized spider farmer.

OR

Buy an AC infinity IONFRAME evo 3 for the SF tent. Stick the SF2000 in the other 4x2, and the vivosun into the 2x2 which will be a tight fit but seems like it should fit and at least I would still have some dimming. My concern is the evo3 on it's own might be a bit underpowered on the perimeter of the oversized tent.

Let me know thoughts or alternate suggestions for lights. would love to make a move on some gear when the 4/20 sales hit and should be just in time for when I will be taking clones and need 3 tents live.

Also debating if I should maybe ditch the vivosun 4x2, and get another 2x2 instead since things getting a little crowded in that room and would be a bit easier to have them share certain equipment.

Just a thought, but if running both lights in the oversized tent worked perfectly, and you are already considering buying another light, why not leave the 2- 200W lights in the oversized tent (it's already shown it's perfect) and pick up the IONFRAME evo 3 for the 2x4 vivosun tent as it's a perfect fit for it, and whichever light you have already that will work best in the 2x2?

Cheers,

BA.

fair to consider, but I guess it would just be overkill cause I dont really see a scenario in which I would be going at 100% of the lights capabilities in that second 4x2 tent, and I would still lack dimming capabilities in the 2x2. I think I would end up with 3 tents that never need the full light power and 1 of which will still be at 100% power all the time cause it cant be dimmed.

maybe I should just throw those other two lights on ebay and see what I can get for them. ultimately im bleeding electric running either of those when I don't need the full power they offer and will just be forced to raise them excessively high to keep the ppfd where I need it. Maybe im a little too locked in on trying to power my tents ~80% off solar with my setup but that's my goal.

Fair enough. I think your last option is the best choice then; new ionframe in the large tent (dimmable), SF2000 in the smaller 2x4 (dimmable) and the vivosun 200W in the 2x2 (dimmable) and sell the rest of them for whatever you can get for them. The oversized tent, I'm assuming it's the 28"x55" footprint? If so, that's 1/3 bigger in floor space (1540 sq.in. vs 1152 sq.in.) but in reality it's only 7" longer and 4" wider. If you think of that extra room as edge space, it's only 3.5" wider in each direction and 2" longer in each direction. Just keep your canopy around 4" away from the short walls and 2" away from the longer walls and you're occupying the exact same space as the normal 2x4 tent, so your coverage, in theory, shouldn't be any different.

Yea I would try to squeeze them towards the center as much as possible, but I have the XL self watering bases underneath each 10 gallon pot so theres a limit to how close together I can keep them. Those bases really only give me 2-3 inches of clearance if it stagger front and back and squeeze towards center. Seems like selling those If I can and getting the ionframe is the move. Worst case if that is insufficient for the oversized tent can add one of the ac infinity 2x2 lights to that one for $120 down the road.

Any idea what the equivalent HLG light would be for that size? Heard some good things about them but am not familiar with their product line

Not too familiar with their products, to be honest. I'm running a Spider Farmer SE4500 in my 2x4 tent with the Spider Farmer Glow30 side lights that I just installed yesterday. I did see a website that has all the HLG stuff on it, though.

You should be able to find out a lot more information on model specs on that site, then look to order from wherever is best for you.

Cheers,

BA.

Check out my grow post. If you’re in the Midwest area, the lights I got are still in stock at places.

Or maybe it’ll give you some ideas to save on your light set up.
