So I’ve been grown for a few years now and my first few years I had very bad luck, experimenting with how to dry and cure my plants and not losing the odor and the flavor of the buds. I finally think that I’ve sorted a lot of the issues out. I’ve been hanging drying whole plants inside of a 4 x 4 by eight tent, which is air-conditioned cooled to about 65° and the humidity inside is around 55% so far it’s looking like it’s taken around 8 to 10 days to dry each plant. My question is it’s only me that does all the trimming and all the prep work and anybody that’s done. This knows it’s a lot of work and what I’m wondering is would it be OK to buck the buds off the plants and put them into airtight plastic containers for maybe two days at the most while I sit And work on doing the dry trim method to get the buds manicured to be put into the mason jars I have and add hydrometers to watch for the relative humidity to go down to where I want it before I add in the humidity packs. I read a lot of things that say the plastic can change the smell in the flavor of the bud due to the plastic being poured in the different chemicals that are inside of it, but since I wasn’t planning on actually storing the buds in there no longer than what it takes me to get them trimmed to put in the jars. I’m hoping some of you old school growmies shed a little light on the subject and let me know if I’m making a mistake or if I would be OK only letting it be in the plastic tubs for a couple days before they go into the jars because this is definitely one of my best harvest this year and I really don’t want to ruin it by making a silly mistake any in all advice is accepted. I can’t wait to hear back to see what some of you could tell me and possibly guide me into a better way or let me know what I’m doing. We’ll be all right for a short term fix until I can get everything dry trimmed. Thank you for your help and hope everybody’s plants are doing great and everybody’s having a wonderful crop October.
How come you don't want to use the tent like you've done before? I hang mine in a spare bedroom and in my tent and if needed in a spare closet. I split the plant up and hang the branches. I wet trim all the large leaf outdoors then hang them indoors. Why are you wanting to just remove the buds and putting them green into a plastic container? I'm a near 70yr old woman and do it all myself and i got 7 photoperiods to harvest from outdoors. Are you wanting to speed it up for a reason?

No, definitely not trying to speed up the process. I understand that it’s a low and slow process. It gives you a better product sometimes I’m bad about explaining what I’m really trying to get at but what my issue is is like drying in the tent and everything is working out just fine. It’s once they get dry That I’m worried I can’t get them trimmed out and manicured the way I want and get them into jars fast enough to where it’s just done and I can start burping and caring like you’re supposed to like. It’s just me so it takes me a while to trim through all that I do wet trim all the big fan leaves off before moving the plants inside into the tent I take off basically everything but the sweet leaves for the most part so they hang down and protect the tri combs that are on the buds. I’ve just got quite a few plants and only so much room so it’s a lot for me to do in the small space on my own and it just goes back to my main question would it hurt the buds if I had to keep them in plastic containers for possibly one to three days while I take my time to finish dry trimming them to get them into the jars. I just don’t want the buds to pick up any unwanted odors from the plastic or possibly change the flavor profiles I was hoping somebody could maybe tell me a better way that I could store the buds that I have bucked off the plants while I’m waiting to get them manicured very nicely and placed into the jars so they can continue their cheering process for a couple months that asked for rushing. That’s the last thing I’m really trying to do. I guess the only time I’m really Russian is when I’m doing the final manager on the bud so I can try to get them into the jars as quick as possible. Also sorry for the book. Just trying to make you guys understand where I’m coming from and what I’m trying to figure out.
Ya know i've never done plastic totes. I've used paper grocery bags on trimmed up green bud. It is a huge amount of work to do large plants. I've got 3 alittle over 6ft ( not ready) and 4 about 4ft and i'm removing all the large fans now on 2. I grow in 15gal pots so my plants don't get out of control on me.
I'll sit outside under my patio and do a wet trim snip around the suger leaf i don't remove everything then i break them down by branches and hang those to dry 4-5days. If when i remove the buds and they still feel wet i'll place those in brown paper bags, roll up the opening and lay it sideways. A day of that usually makes them safe to jar them. Yeah burping 30jars is alot of fun.......LOL
I cut seperate and hang each bud in a room that gets air exchange and come back in two weeks all the magic is done it's ready to smoke orto jar for storage.
If your having issues you need to simplify and learn the old ways before attempting the new ones.
After five days it's starting to almost burn in a joint as a reference but the taste and full dry take longer. If your not achieving this something needs adjusting.
If growers in your area are doing this it's a good sign you should be able to although I understand some live in a desert or perpetual high humidity and rain like 90% all the time so more envimental control could be needed there but mainly most of us don't so should be able to just hang and then smoke easily or with a bit of trial and error to find a good dry fresh area of the house.
