I'll see if I have any recent, think I do...

Was just talking to my friend who gave it to me, she said Neville told her brother g13 x Afghan -- which I seemed to forget since I mentioned it in the first post hahah

Gonna do a thread at MNS and see what pops up there

Thats totally false statement he holds the true parental stock. He told me himself

the real info is here http://greenthumbsmedical.freeforums.net if your looking for the truth

I'm not signing up for that forum, so maybe copy and paste the info.
Thanks and take care

How does one keep a MJ plant going for 20 years? Enlighten my dumbass. :)
I don't want to hijack the thread...so a short answer will do or if it's easier just post a link explaining this.

really kolah?
why bro.....you know plenty of people have kept the same cultivar alive for 20+ yrs.

sHANTI HAS MANY MOTHERS AND FATHERS THAT HAVE BEEN ALIVE FOR 20 PLUS YEARS ITS NOT THAT DIFFICULT WHAT ARE YOUR CONCERNS WITH IT

WHATS THAT MEAN ALL THE GUYS ARE THERE I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE ISSUE IS CAN YOU EXPLAIN

Sorry you seem to take that personally - My issue is not about that specific forum, if that's what you inferred, or if that's what I implied, from that last post...but I'm not active on any other public sites, prefer to keep low profile

THANKS AND TAKE CARE

@Kolah - Keeping a plant healthy fro many years can be difficult to do unless one is pretty stable, and even then the only way I've seen/heard of it being done, to keep it alive and truly thriving for so long is to have everyone in your circle, who is able, keep a mother. Then if infestations happen or someone kicks your door in you know she is in good hands. From there I keep the strongest clone from each round as new mother for the next year . I try not to push a mom for more than a year, and I find, if I maintain the mom well and always care for her roots, flowering after a six month veg gives me my best quality harvests inside. When I have a strain I really love I'll keep two or three mini moms going in cycles to ensure I only take cutting from the healthiest one

Oh im sorry but yes ive seen it done just like you described when it gets shabby take a cutting and start over

hi NT,
something that is very important and will keep moms and dads healthy.
Sunlight it's like a shot of vitamin C for the plant.
Occasionaly you should let her soak up some natural sunlight and she will stay healthy.
just beware of light intensity and dont let any insects get on her,
also be sure to maintain proper photoperiod. (dont forget and leave her outside)
Trimming roots and repotting also is a good way.
Bonsai is the best way to keep a special plant alive for many years and should be studied indepth by anyone who is serious about this.

Also ,earlier in this thread I said
(TH Seeds used "The Gravity Clone to make F1 seed)
it should read
(TH Seeds used Gravity F1 seed plant to make Zero Gravity Hybrid)

keep it green
scorpion

Thanks NT...so clones (in a sense) keep the Mother plant in existence. After so many clones being taken does quality suffer? I know from animal cloning that the clone takes on the age of the mother ...so a 10 year old Mother sheep that is cloned produces a 10 year old baby ewe. And that ewe will have many of the "old age" traits" (arthritis, lower immune system, etc)

Is it at all possible to have the same (original) Mother survive for 20 years without cloning her? And if so, do you put her through regular veg and flower cycles or limit her flower production.

I guess my concern is whether or not as the Mom ages quality starts to go south...and if so at what point does it happen (of course that will drastically change due to nutrients, genetics and other environmental factors)

and for the record, I am not scoffing at Neville/ Shantis work as I have great respect for what they have done and what they continue to do. I am just a curious cat seeking good info.

Great tips... also very important! Thanks for adding.

I've never seen one plant maintained for so long, don't think its the best option for maintaining plant health and especially vigor. I certainly wouldn't flower the plant in any case if I wished to preserve her.

Genetic drift is a factor to consider, which I think is caused by cloning unhealthy plants. I personally think the key is to have replacement moms ready , so you can replace a tired mother before she is so tired that her clones are weakened. For example cloning off a mom with specific disease or pest problem may lead to those cuttings having little or no natural defense against that pest/disease.

anyone notice something with mns forum today?

i try to go and it asks me for my name and password.
did they make it private?
i havent tried to enter the information yet, thought maybe it was something shady.

It's says Temporarily Closed ??? Must be some sort of update.

Makes perfect sense, thanks NT.
