Hi guys,

I am in the market for a new setup. I am in need of a 4x2 which I would be looking to SOG. Not always SOG but it would be something that gets done.
The issue that I am having is that I am looking at what is available in the complete kits and can't decide.
Everything is subject to change but right now I'm leaning towards spider farmers 4x2 with 4" fan and filter kits with a G4500 light.
I was looking at the same setup but with the SF2000 but think that the light might be underpowered for what I want of it.
There are similar setups from mars hydro which include the TSL2000 or the FC4000.
I do like that the mars hydro tent is taller though.
These kits are all similarly priced give or take £100,

Anyway I'd appreciate it if you could give your input,

Thanks

I have a spider farmer 3x3. I was going to get the complete kit one BUT they all seem to come with a 4" intake and for reliability sake I wanted a 6" plus I am not a big fan of those flat plate lights. I wanted the bar light style setup. I ended up "piecing" together one from separate parts...It cost me a little more but each component was the one I wanted and each was better than what was offered in the "kit".

Some of those that I mentioned in the complete kits are lights in the bar style.
I have thought about 6" too but not sure that I really need it.
What did you go for in the end?

I got the 3x3 spider tent (I am growing for me so no need to go bigger) for the light I chose the G3000 300W, Perfect light for that size tent in my newby opinion. The 6" intake was my best option I think because I will be running it almost constantly. With this setup I am about ready for my first harvest of granddaddy purple. I love my Spider farmer stuff!!! but I am not impressed with the fact that they don't have a working phone at corporate (only answering services and "leave a message" recordings).
The women helping me with my first grow has all Mars hydro stuff.

I have no experience with spider farmer or mars hydro to be honest and a lot of their stuff seems to be virtually identical with the only differences being branding from what I have seen.
I was looking to use a 4x2 (biggest I can go for) to sog clones and need something that can do the job without feeling disappointed at harvest.

I think they are mostly the same too but I have only actually seen the Mars hydro tents and the spider farmer up close..I like mine 'I did have to cover the whole thing with a blackout tarp for flower tho because of the zipper light leaks. I think thats the norm tho. I am very happy so far with my spider farmer stuff and with the smart outlet I can keep an eye on my grow and make adjustments with my phone. (all companies have that too tho).
I would go with the one that you think is best BUT Don't get a cheepy amazon tent..A friend showed me one he got OMG its junk! lol.
Bigger tents are nice But will boost the electric bill My 3x3 cost around an extra 50 a month to run.

Yeah the stuff on amazon isn't great from what I've seen unless it's branded.
The 4x2 will just be a flower tent so realistically I just need the light to do the job. the problem I'm faced with is that they will all do the job but to what extent? There are jumps in price which I expect with performance and I'm happy to pay it if it's significant or noticeable gains. Otherwise I'd be better off going with the cheaper out of the lot if the others are only marginally better. That way I have more money to upgrade other bits and pieces.

Also I want to know what people think about different inline fan systems.
I have experience with some seriously budget and I currently have a 4" ac infinity which I am very impressed with.
Depending on price I am considering just picking the best bits that I like and doing it that way but if say spider farmer or mars hydro's equivalent is just as good I will go for that.

I bought a 2x4 tent at Home Depot 5 years ago because it was very inexpensive and I can say that structurally it has held up very well. Zipper still works well and fabric is tough. The only problem I've had is that it's only 5 feet tall which has meant plants growing up close to the light and the consequence of fox-tailing. So my advice would be to get the tallest tent for the room size that your putting it in. I see that SF now offers a 2x4 that is actually 55" x 28" x 80". That little bit over-size 55" x 28" means I could fit a second light in there if I wanted or two Earth Boxes would fit neatly and the 80" height would be very comfortable with some of the strains I've grown. I really want to buy this but I'm struggling with the conservation of resources part of it.

I also bought a SF 2000 and a SF 4" inline fan back then. The light has worked beautifully for me and is in perfect condition after five years of 2 grows a year. No bad diodes. The inline fan crapped out after 4 1/2 years. I replace it with a 6" AC cloudline which started acting funny after 2 months. It wouldn't hold the speed it was set to. I sent them a video of the issue and they replaced it, no charge. This one is working fine. I'll say this, the 4" fan struggled during the summer to keep the air moving enough to cool the tent while the 6" does the job on a low setting so I'm happy with that choice.

So that's my 2 cents. I hope your decisions work well for you.

Well I think that the choice of tents has been made up for me due to dimensions. After a closer look at spider farmer their 4x2 tents aren't a true 4x2 but instead 70cm. This isn't going to work for me but the mars hydro is 60cm deep and stands at 6ft tall which I like.
If anyone has any other recommendation for tents let me know but as for now I think its mars hydro.
So now the big hunt is on for an inline fan and filter kit. I'd like recommendations from people for fan size, 4" or 6". Also recommendations for lights.
Remember I am looking to SOG so will need something half decent.

I would definitely go for a 6" fan rather than the 4". You can run the larger fan at lower speeds which helps with longevity and noise if that's an issue. One of my tents is in my bedroom and my ac infinity 6" is quiet enough not to bother me until I crank it up past 5 ,which i rarely need to do.

Yeah I think that I will almost be definitely going for a 6" fan now. It's just going to workout better.
I love my AC infinity 4" but at full power it sounds like it's taking off.
Realistically with a 6" I won't be running it at very high power which means that it should be quiet which gives me more scope for what fan kit to get.
AC infinity is my obvious choice but if there are any positive experiences with other brands out there I would love to hear them.
I was leaning very strongly towards the spider farmer SE4500 but after checking dimensions it unfortunately won't fit. Best alternative that will fit in a true to size 4x2 tent?

The SE4500 will fit in a 4×2 tent. Mine is in a AC Infinity 4×2 and it's a little snug but it does fit. Great light.

Mars Hydro is a solid bet. As is really anything from AC Infinity.
