New here and to gardening

Hey there, new here and to gardening. I have one plant that is being eaten by something. Unfortunately I can’t yet attach pics.
Something is eating clean through the leaves; making little holes all over. There isn’t anything I can see well on the underside of the leaves.
Is there some sort of general solution I can spray on it?
Sorry if this has been covered lots and/or is an obvious thing that I should already know.

I don't know much about pests. Is this inside or outside grow? Are you in veg or flower? A pic would help so the other growers on here have an idea.

I know neem oil is good for some pests but I've never used it. For some reason I'm thinking of caterpillars but take that with a grain of salt.

Little holes sounds like thrips or aphids. Can you see any bugs? Yes, a picture would greatly help in diagnosis.

First step I would take is to make an insecticidal soap solution and spray the plant down top and bottom of leaves and see if that takes care of the issue. Insecticidal Soap solution is made with dish washing soap, water, vegetable oil.

If you need to go nuclear I would recommend a product called Azamax. It is OMRI certified organic and will kill off most of the bugs that like our plants.

It’s an outside grow. This one is coming up just outside the raised bed. The others don’t seem to be affected

My guess with that much damage is a leaf eating insect. Caterpillar maybe.
Sneak out at night and look with a flashlight. Start looking under leafs. Scrape up soil around plant and look around. Take a badley chewed leaf and take a high def pic and expand it. Both sides. Look around this is not a thrip unless they grow em bigger where you are at.

last year i had microscopic caterpillers , about 3mm long which did this they were from some sort of moth and after they have eaten they pull the leaf together and sew it up

It's usually moths or caterpillars that chew big holes through leaves, also grasshoppers. BT gets rid of them over a couple days and then reapplying helps keep them off. I built this cage to put an end to moths / bud worms. Unfortunately it does nothing to stop thrips, aphids and mites. They're too tiny.
