Welcome to the Farm! 🌱 hop over a couple threads and we have been talking about lights all morning. It’s the “Chinese LED” thread. Ask questions, there are many seasoned growers here that may have answers and/or opinions. Happy grows!

Welcome @Akatz , you'll get a whole heap of advice, so best be ready to start some serious research.
Good luck.
Btw what seeds have you ordered?

Looking to set up a 4x4 space. Seeds ordered. Working on researching the best lights for my needs.

:)
In a 4by4 I ran a 600 hps regularly got 8 to 12 oz with 4 plants topped once and semi lollipoped. Very lil work. Good return I was in a 7 ft grow tent wit an a/c cooled hood

My brain has been hurting for days! I ordered some autos from Seedsman. Looking to help my anxiety. Mostly I am struggling deciding on simple lighting. This girl cannot retain that info for some reason haha.

Basically I’m trying to keep it as simple as possible. 2 plants to start. Filtration system/tent and nutrients purchased as well as the little things.
I’m already overwhelmed and in AWE of everyone’s great knowledge!

Lots of good & bad for all lighting types but 2 plants for.personal growth, keep it as simple as possible.
My vote about 250+w actual draw led units. If you happy to upgrade later (if it get more serious or your needs change)
Plan for about 1$£ per watt but some cheaper units are good to get you running.
HID lamps are great no denying it (very big shoes indeed) but heat, ongoing bulb replacments and space issues can all be a pain, so you need to figure out whats important to your grow.
If there is somethng you wanna know, just shout.

Hey, simple is good there are some good led lights for not much out there. Viparspectra, Spiderfarm, if you want simple get about 2 to 300 actual draw on your wattage and some decent organic potting soil. And you are on the way just up pot right before bloom. Won’t even have to feed or not feed much.

Do you have any recommendations for something that is essentially “plug and play”?
I would like to stay under 500$ And be able to use it for more plants later by itself or by adding additional lighting.

Others might argue (See chinese LED thread) , but your best option in my eyes for a truly plug and play system would be a 240w quantum board. You can pick those up under $200 shipped from Kingbrite. All components are replaceable without a ton of knowledge or effort.

There are some good COBS out there under 500$ check. Philizon Chinese but well made I have a 1500, 241 actual wattage has been solid for 2 years. Look at the Cobs and daylight style with ir and uv.
