I came up with this hack over the last couple of days for holding on to a cola while I'm wet trimming. Not sure if anyone's ever done this before and it's hard to look up specifically on Google.
So I'll take credit for it lol.

You can hold the cola by the stem and that is often great for part of the trim but that gets annoying and is a lot of extra work holding on to it.
I have hung the cola on a line or wire before. That works but it moves around a lot.

So I came up with a method where you put the stem between your two cupboard doors like in your kitchen.
You open both doors together insert the stem at whatever height and angle you want the cola to be and then you close the doors evenly and it will secure your cola.
Obviously your cupboard doors have to have generally the right gap between them. It doesn't have to be much. In fact you want it to act like a vice when you close both doors together.
It's often very easy to adjust the doors at the hinges. You might also want to make sure your hinges are tight.
The kind of hinges I'm talking about are the ones that are on most cupboard doors these days they have adjustments built into them

It's very secure. The length of the stem will affect its positioning and whether it bounces around. Shorter can be better but experiment. It is so secure it feels like you could hang a weight from the cola lol

Makes it so easy to get in with the scissors and not have the cola moving around. You can use two hands one to hold the leaves and the other hand to cut the petiole.

My official name of the hack is Kitchen cabinet door compression as a trimming anchor.

Cheers

Hey guys I have been using this technique for over a week straight. I honestly can't imagine doing it any other way now. I used to hang them or hold them with one of my hands and this is so many times better.
Honestly I expected a better reaction from y'all. I think it's because barely anybody saw it.

Oh I noticed it!!! I didn't react.....sorry!!

I would have a tough time jam'n massive buds in between my kitchen cabinets to trim 🤣

Super awesome its helping you out 👊🏼

Maybe something like a squeeze clamp on a table or chair could work on similar fashion

Of course everybody's cabinets are different. But you just close both doors at the same time and it just crushes the stem perfectly.
One stands up to do this
It's better for you.
And you can clamp it into the door at any height and quickly flip it around to do the other side of the bud.
There's nothing to set up it's available to me at any moment. And I have enjoyed that fact.

I just trimmed a 12-in cola yesterday.
Thanks for responding.
How do you hold or anchor to trim big colas?

Well I definitely cant stand in the same spot for that long, need to be seated or my back would be killing Me.

I have been doin it the same way for 25yrs.....sitting down, music on, vaping.....held by hand! 👍🏼

Nice. Yeah of course that's a chill way to do it. It's a lot of holding by hand though. I have zero holding by hand that's why it's such a monstrous difference.
I use my free hand to pull the the leaf slightly exposing the petiole.
But since you like sitting you could definitely create something that has similar principles.
A year or two ago I used my vice that is portable on a chair and whatever to hold on to each and every bud. It was okay but it only had it the one height compared to the height of the door. And it was awkward to even change the position because you know listening advice uncranking it and tighten it up again.
A springy metal clamp might work.
The beauty of the doors is you just simply open the doors an inch turn the cola and push the doors closed again and you've changed position.
When you want to do a different part of the cola/put it higher or lower it takes literally one second to move it.
As you know every side of a big ass cola has lots of stuff to trim so you're in that position for a while.
And lastly yes it might not work for everyone. I tend to do a staggered harvest. I have about 40 x 10-in colas and then a whole bunch of satellite stuff like another 25 smaller ones.
It's a lot. I go and cut one I take it to the kitchen I trim it in 10 minutes and I come back later and do another one.

A clamp on the coffee table works well but I don't usually have a problem holding the stem. Also I prefer dry trimming so that makes a difference.

Coffee table sounds like a lot of leaning forward to get to it.
I think you could do a tray in your lap with some type of a clamp maybe. It's just all clunky compared to my idea.
I'm trying to sell my idea lol.
I would point out that when you use the cabinet doors it's at eye level or whatever slight adjustment you might want.

I am hoping in the future somebody comes and says they tried it and it was phenomenal.

Funny.haha
I didn't need to share this with y'all.
I know how great it works.
This is my last post
Your last post...seriously? Your grow is nice you should concentrate and talk more about that but instead you get your feelings hurt over nobody throwing you a parade over cramming a stick between two doors. Ok.

Wtf is wrong with you dude?
I have 50 10 to 12-in colas to trim.
It's made it so much better to trim them. So I'm not going to change where I concentrate my efforts.
My efforts will not be sharing shit with any of you anymore.
And I don't need a f****** parade a little acknowledgment that it's actually a great idea would be nice.

Its a good idea bro!!! I just dont know how practical it really is......I wont be heading upstairs into the kitchen to trim anytime soon.....but it works great for you man 👍🏼

What do ya have growing next?

Fantastic!

Do I really have to tell you to put down a tray or a big plate to catch everything.
And as far as the cupboard doors there's no resin on the branch.
I work with no gloves and over time everything has resin

Yo dude, it’s a good idea. I like the idea. When trimming 5-8 lbs, it gets tricky. Don’t go away in a huff, everyone has an opinion. Show your grows. Build on your good idea. My wife personally would kill me. Years ago, my wife said,” that’s it with weed drying everywhere “. So I stealthy hid some in the attic. Cleaned when she wasn’t home. Cleaned up, thought I did a good job. Here comes her scraggly poodle, leaves stuck all over her. I now do everything in my shop. Didn’t help with her friends saying I was going to go to jail! Chin up bro, keep doing what your doing!
