So my pollen is dropping now at a good rate. Plenty more sacs to open too. I need to get some containers especially for this. @JAWS I used a qtip to collect some pollen... Probably better off with those lil paint brushes tho. I'm going to go try pollenating a couple branches in my room. The girls are about 5 weeks in. I have a unknown plant, widow, and blueberry in there right now. Gonna turn my fans off and do some dusting... Wish me luck!

ya i prefer the small brush and i did use a q-tip for a while but i get/have much more control with the brush.

if you able to pull your females out to pollinate then i'd do so for-sure, if not umm you will most likely get a few stray seeds here in there. breeding like that in the same area with your other plants there is almost no chance to keep from getting at least a few stray seeds.

you should at the very least cover your branch{s} with a paper sandwich baggie directly after dusting, just slide the baggie over the branch and smash the open end of the bag best you can. again its ALWAS best to breed in a totally different area if at all possible. tomorrow morning when ya go back in there remove the bag and spray your branch{s} down with plain water give a little shake and spray it down again.

I did this over a movie poster to collect along with @JAWS method he listed above

ya that will work to i just like the wax paper for its slickness and transparent look.

peace:)

Good Morning fellow enthusiasts-farmers-and everyone in between ! ! ! I currently have 1 KC Brains Escape male that has smelled to high heaven since infancy that I'd like to collect pollen from (as well as a few other desirable traits that I won't waste your time in describing) .......if I might ask you professionals a few questions ? First, is it normal to have a male mature wayyyyy before females ? And second - are these sacs close to opening ? I have one flower thats opened so Im assuming others are close to follow.....thank you all in advance and thank you for the most informative thread ! !

P.S. I apologize for the sideways pics and having the pics appear before the body of the text....I will send the mods a message to ask how to correctly post pics.....

yes your males will mature faster then your females!!.

yes once the sac's begin to drop your close and should take proper percations for collecting pollen.

have fun;)

Good afternoon to you all. JAWS - I thank you for the respo se and direction on which to head with this male plant of mine. I am seriously contemplating going over the 310+ pages of your Lab of JAWS thread to try and glean some more information as I know there are nuggets of good info' found in just about any thread that has that many pages/responses ! ! ! I wish you all a good week ahead and again cannot thank you enough ! ! !

A mere two months ago I asked The Man, The Myth and The Legend-JAWS, a few questions about males and then went back and read a good portion of the Lab of JAWS thread (great tips to be found all over that thread) and this is what has resulted from the doing the above.....

4 different "crosses" and 63 seeds later I can only say THANK YOU to JAWS GEAR for the informative and helpful hints ! ! ! Now on to the real work of "massaging" the next great plant.....thanks again fellow farmers, gardeners, growers, breeders or whichever title we've earned enough to call ourselves (grin).

@ByrneBurnham :)
thanks for the kind words my friend and stoked you were able to get something from all my jabbering's over the years, HAHAHAHA i do go on a bit at times.

great job;)

Thanks again JAWS ! ! ! And sorry about some of those sentences up there - "this is what has resulted from the doing the above" - WTH ? Absolutely not how I meant to say it.....

Meant to say this is what has resulted from doing the above.... Sorry fellow enthusiasts....

no problems my friend it's all good and again super stoked you got some beans, it's always nice to make your own strains for-sure.

respect:)

What I used to do is as soon as I noticed a plant showing male flowers, I just moved it back to my "veg" room. That 4'x6' room had 1,000 watts of metal halide running 24 hours a day and I just let it keep growing with all of the other plants. My "veg" room and "bloom" room was connected (I built my own 10'x6' area with wood and panda-poly film) and I never had an issue with "losing" a crop. To apply pollen I would just turn all of the fans off and use a dry water color brush to apply exactly where I wanted.
