Yeah man, no need to change it up if what you have now works when it comes to things like bulkheads, pipe, etc.I have a couple little air stones in the control bucket, to kind of mix my nutrients and chems that i add, plus it keeps a good mix and my orb clean. But i dont have no air stones in my bucket. I achieve the same thing with the drip rings as the water falls back down thru the net pot and splashes into the water it aerates it, or thats what they claim! lol It has worked well for me like that. I may run some stones in a couple and see if there is a noticeable difference.. I do think i would like to go to 2" pipe and and CC bulkheads one day but i need to see this one fail me first before making the jump.
Not sure :/ I'm running UC Veg A+B with Cal Mag, OSA and mammoth P and I hit them with a tea weekly. I love the tea but man it makes my pH run high as hell and I have to be on it for the first 48hrs constantly. So I'm not sure if I should ditch the tea and mammoth P and run Pool Shock (hypochloric acid or something right?), Cal Mag, AgrSil (bought this to replace OSA as OSA is 2500$ for what 9$ of AgrSil makes) and Veg A/B and stay sterile until I get the hang of it.are you gonna run roots, hydrogaurd, or pool shock in your system?
Nope you described that as i understand it too... I heard of some people shutting down the drip feed on mine last 5 weeks of flower and just running a stone in each bucket i havent changed anything because honestly it works good for me. And one of the reasons i havent changed it, is i dont have heat problems from water pump as i have no water pump... Mine is all controlled by air and GH WaterFarm module pumping coulum... no heat compared to water pump. So thats awesome, plus no electric costs for water pump! Thats nice...Yeah man, no need to change it up if what you have now works when it comes to things like bulkheads, pipe, etc.
2" pipe would have been nice but I sized down to 1.5" PVC pipe and the female connectors OD fit the 2" bulkhead ID perfectly. If I did it over i wouldn't use the PVC piping as spacers between the connectors running perpendicular to the control bucket as it adds an extra 6" I could really use.
I was seeing some people mentioning just the feedback line emptying into the control bucket and splashing on the surface creates enough aeration for the whole system (up to 4-8 sites maybe?) so that makes sense to me. As i understand it, oxygen enters through the surface of water so the bubbles just break up the surface area to expose more to oxygen. So a rain drop would have the same effect. I might not have that absolutely correct but I believe it's something like that.
Im not for

Im gonna get around to using pool shock, since its cheapest... UC roots is prob best, and hydrogaurd is prob best economical deal.. I also think the hydrogaurd has some other interesting qualities...Not sure :/ I'm running UC Veg A+B with Cal Mag, OSA and mammoth P and I hit them with a tea weekly. If not, I'll make sure to get the bleach out!
I have Coco going in my other tent :) best of every world.I just dont see the draw of hydro, it looks like alot of trouble, Ill stick with coco the best of both worlds.
It already is worth it to me, I love learning new things and experiencing different methods for accomplishing the same goal. I'm glad you're satisfied with growing in one medium, for right now I would find that boring. Maybe one day down the road ease will factor more heavily into my decisions.I will be glad to see if you think all of the gear and headache is worth switching over from coco since you will have done both.
Fair enough, and I wouldn't use my results as an indicator of what the system is capable of :eyepiece: I am still a beginner. That being said, I will still try to show you some killer results.Mine is necessity and resources, I have to have medicine for various reasons and I live in a small 3br rental with 5 people. Once I get move into our new house I might try it out if you show me some killer results.:smoking:
Right on bro! So how has the ph been doing and what did we figure our system is holding in volume?Fair enough, and I wouldn't use my results as an indicator of what the system is capable of :eyepiece: I am still a beginner. That being said, I will still try to show you some killer results.
pH was around 5.7 last night when I put them in 6.0 this am. If it's gone higher when I get home in an hour I'll bring I down.Right on bro! So how has the ph been doing and what did we figure our system is holding in volume?
And im gonna tag another member in your thread so i dont have to explain everything over again, is that all right?
Your ph is rising? It usually falls! Dont worry about bringing it down till it gets to 6.3 or stays above 6.2 for 48 hrs. You want to float thru the zone as certain nutes are more readily available at diffrent ph. N is higher in the scale and k and pk are lower. so 5.5 to 6.3 as long as it floats thru 5.8 on its way. I seem to always start out higher and work lower as plants get bigger. just me. I set my ph at 6.1 and let it fall to 5.7, then raise to 6.1 in Veg, and in flower i set it to 5.9 and let it fall to 5.6, then raise it back to 5.9... Seems to work for me ....pH was around 5.7 last night when I put them in 6.0 this am. If it's gone higher when I get home in an hour I'll bring I down.
Holds around 15-18gal
