I like it! I love the tinkering/rigging aspect of home-growing.

Consider this round of clones a failure.
-The cuttings were still viable, perky, and green, when I checked on them yesterday, but not a single one of them started to develop roots.
When I went to check on the plants this morning, one of the collars had dropped down into the bucket and water from the reservoir was spraying out through the hole. I really need to get some more labels and styrofoam collars. Most of the ones I was using were pretty worn out.
Took it apart and washed and sterilized all parts.
I will probably try again in a few weeks, once I have some more styrofoam collars

Still battling mites.
culled the worst of the Molokai Frost from the flower tent a few days ago.
25 satchels of Andersoni mites just arrived and were promptly hung on the branches of every plant in both tents.
a little more optimistic about these beneficials, they’re microscopic but I could still see a few of them moving around

The one good thing that happened this week, was that my 2nd order of banana plants arrived, and the weather was decent enough for me to be able to plant a couple more of them in our front yard

My wife has a couple banana plants in a tent! They are really beautiful to watch when they get going. The pups are adorable too.

That’s awesome! Do you know what variety of banana they are? Any tips or tricks??

Starting to feel a little better today. Started feeling sick Thursday night, and have been absolutely miserable the past two days. Did some transplanting and potting up, trying to get it into a kind of streamlined process. Put the two Afghani seedlings into the tent because those plants seem to progress a little fast than the ones under the t5s

She has a dwarf cavendish, a dwarf plantain, and.....don't remember.

Honestly, my recommendation is just treat them like a pot plant re: pushing them feeding wise.....but use a banana fertilizer. Here is what we use.

And here is her tent. The big girl just got an up pot. My wife has had a long but valiant battle with a significant spider mites infestation....but they seem to be bouncing back. Those were all smaller than the ones you are planting in July.

Also notice the banana kush she is nursing under there haha. She is doing her own thing with that one.

I have a bunch of other seedlings going, but I’m rather excited about this one. It sprouted a few days ago, and I just helped the cotyledons shed the last of the seed helmet.
I dusted a single branch of my Columbian Cheese plant with some of the Haze 4 Days pollen, and only got a handful of seeds.
If this is a female, this is the plant that we will put under the tent frame. We’ve decided to do a single large late-finishing plant and depo it to finish on time, instead of doing a bunch of smaller plants in the light dep for a double harvest.
Don’t want to count any chickens before my eggs are hatched, but I’m looking forward to seeing how this one does.
I have a lot of respect and admiration for both of the breeders who created the parent strains.
The Haze 4 Days (original Haze f4) seeds were gifted to me by MrToad of Boneyard seeds.
the Columbian Cheese (Columbian Gold x Exodus Cheese Bx) was gifted to me by Relic Seeds, at the Hawai’i Cannabis Expo.

Those banana plants are beautiful!! Does she still need to chop the stalk down to make room for new growth, after it fruits?

Thank you! K is very happy you said so.

And no idea. It has not borne any fruit yet....but we are hopeful this up pot will give her the room she needs....she was super root bound.

We also need a new lighting solution obviously.....

The wife’s job had a couple of cases of milk cartons that were expired. They were cool enough to let us take them home.
needless to say, we’ve got a proper batch of LABs started
100 half pint cartons is perfect for 2 5-gallon buckets.

Needed some grow therapy so I decided to spend some time on the aero cloner bucket tonight.
got some new clone collars, hopefully no more clones spontaneously falling into the reservoir now.
also picked up some plant labels.

I used a brand new razor for each plant

2gal tap water
12 tsp Clonex
pH: 5.5
Sprinkler head on 1/2” riser, screwed directly into sub pump output
Timer @ 15min ON/15min OFF

genetics:
Durban Cheese #1
Durban Cheese #2
Pineapple XX
Glazed Apricot Gelato #1
MAC1 (Cap’s Cut)
Tennessee Kush

Some tasty looking genetics! The Durban Cheese really does sound yummy. Cheese has grown on me hard as a flavor.

Clones are starting to look a bit fried at the edges.
I realized my mistake as I was making it, but by that point, it was a bit too late to ‘unmake’ them. I sprayed a bit of diluted Dr. Zhymes on the cuttings, and I guess that excess liquid must have dropped down through the clone collars into the aero-bucket.
not sure if it altered the pH or something else, but by the next day, most of the cuttings started to shrivel, and some of the edges looked fried.

All clones were culled this evening. Another failed attempt in the Aero cloner bucket.
I suck at that. Good thing I have a lot more seeds to go through...

on a more positive note, my Method 7 clip-on camera filter just arrived. So now I really have no excuse to update this journal with grow pics
