The room housing the tent is blacked out. Behind the tent a window has been covered with plywood and holes drilled to accept 6” diameter screened vents for fan ducting. Fans are ceiling height. Added to the intake is a downward duct to drop fresh air to the floor.

All electrical devices in the tent and room are powered by a single 15 amp household circuit. Includes a portable AC unit and mini-heaters as needed. Everything powered on, Did Not trip the 15 amp circuit nor the 15 amp surge protectors.

Lights - California Light Works® (CLW) - Solar System 550’s (3 total). The Lights - replacement equivalent - 600 watt HPS bulbs - using less energy. Lights are chained via rj11 data cables to a CLW-Controller. Allowing, manipulation of the light spectrum at different RWB (red,white,blue) percentages and for various stages of plant growth. The controller is mounted outside the tent. From “sprout to finish” one can pre-program the controller for an entire grow. The light fixtures do not chain. That means a lot of cordage gets tied up out of the grow area, as can be seen in the picture. Hanging height shown is 36” from the floor. Attached to the two outside light fixtures are CLW - UVB kits (2 lights each, 4 total).

Soil - Kellogg® Organic Plus - raised bed and potting soil.

Containers 2” coconut coir seed starting pellets and 5 gallon fabric grow bags.

Nutrients - FoxFarm® Trio - (Big Bloom, Grow Big, Tiger Bloom) and Botanicare® Cal-Mag. Using, FoxFarm®’s “Soil Feeding Schedule” (last page). Water Ph± adjusted with General Hydroponics® PH Up/Down. Added Dr Teal's Epsom Salt as needed for magnesium. Adding crushed eggshells to starting soil for calcium.

Since transplanting plugs into 6" (half gallon) containers, the starts have stayed outside. I do cover them with a bath towel at night. Weather is around 39°F overnight. Daytime temps start moving into the 70°F this week (5/24/25). My vegetable garden will be included in the diary. Growing 12 Anaheim peppers, 6 early girl tomatoes and three each green and red bell peppers. Working on a permanent 10' x 20' privacy structure. Structure will have expansion to clear plastic cover and front as temperatures begin moving to fall.

Seeds sown on 5/9/2025. This post 5/29/2025. Plants fed 1/2 liter Big Bloom mix, 3 times. Weather has started to stabilize. Above 40°F overnight. Mostly 70°F+ and has moved into 80°F during the day. No longer using towel to protect plants at night. Keep thinking the cotyledon leaf is going to show secondary. As soon as the second set of true leaves establish will start grow nutrients.

Back row line up leaning towards the Huckleberry Hound side.

Got several disability issues, leg dragging to get around. I hope before fall I can walk 3 miles into a 10-acre lake for some Brookies. Right now, if I can get streamside access, I can fish. Even though snowpack was bad, runoff is happening. I've a spot for westslope cuts and Bull trout.

Old, disabled 'bout killed me. Should have done this fifteen years ago. The cost to me was hardware and windscreen panels. One side or the other of $200 USD invested. Lumber, etc. came from leftover past projects. If I were younger this project would have taken a day and a half. Took me five. SAD!!

There is room to construct a clear plastic roof and front or shade cloth. Garden receives sun from sunup and begins to fade about 6:00 PM. Facing in a South Easterly direction. Plans for 2' metal plant shelves around inside walls for other plants/vegetables, much later!

Container fill and Soil Amendment on 06/02/2025. Seedlings continue in 1/2 gallon containers. Today 06/01 seedlings fed grow nutes at 1/4 liter each. Plants outgrew domes and now exposed to the outside fully.

Unfiltered well water, ph 7.3. Hard with build up of lime or calcium. Don't care. I'm not using a watering can of ph adjusted water every watering. Straight out of the hose, even when I feed. Wahh Wah but the plants might suffer uptake. LOL

This what I consider amending the soil. Existing soil is organic and contains organic nutrients, but, it has to be ammended.

Soil watered in each container, at a rate of 4 gallons adjusted as follows.

08 tbls (120 ml) Big Bloom

04 tsp (20 ml) Cal-mag

08 tbls (120 ml) Epsom Salt

1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) Nitrogen

1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) Phosphorous

1/4 tsp (1.25 ml) Potassium

Starts moved to grow area.
