Yes, you can take too many fans off. Another way to handle canopy control is to remove the lower bud sites, as they don't have good POTential anyway.
Is there anything I should worry about taking clones from flowering plants?
Not much of the main fans will regrow. No worries taking cuts from flowering plants, in fact, some folks find they root faster. That said, expect the new growth from the cuttings to be funky, i.e. single and triple-lobed leaves instead of the usual five to eleven lobes.I'll trim the bottom bud spots tonite and when the leaves grow back i'll leave them alone except for an few that may be blocking light to lower bud spots. I need to get some clones going so i'll take them from the lower of my plants tonite. Thatll take care of 2 problems. Is there anything I should worry about taking clones from flowering plants?
I wouldn't recommend cloning from a flowering plant at all. Not unless there is absolutely no way to ever get that strain again. I don't know your situation but cloning from a plant 2 weeks into flowering is just setting yourself up with stressed out babies.
