One brown and one green branch from each node, problem?

I have several nodes on different plans with one brown and one green branch coming out (see pic). Is this a problem or is it normal?

I can't see the color difference you're talking about, but yes, new growth tends to be greenest. Those are petioles that you're picturing, I'm thinking slight phosphorous deficiency (purple-reddish coloration is indicator). If it progresses then you'll see necrosis at the leaf tips working its way back. Otherwise, look fine.
