One plant of the four in my tent has brown spots on leaves. It start with just a couple. I did clean the self watering bases not too long ago but did them all the same. Same area, same new sponge, same towels (did not dry insides) same……..There was different plant that got some spots on couple leaves. I found out that when breathing heavy and reaching over top of it I was breathing hard and spittle was getting on it. I’ve learned it’s a good idea to wear a mask before opening the tent. Anyway this seems to be more of a health issue and not external contamination. I posted a pic of the underside of the leaf too. If anyone knows what this is, if I can perform any surgery or if it’s terminal then I’m all ears. Thanks

I want to add that this is Apple Fritter auto 11 days into flower.

You have to rule out leaf septoria first because that and Ca deficiency look surprisingly similar and I see some of the tell tale halo effect of early stage septoria.

I've never had it but I've made the mistake of misdiagnosing it for Ca on this very forum until people who went through it set me straight!

Just something to rule out because you'd much rather have a Ca problem.

You need some good magnification to look really closely at the spots to tell the difference 💚

Ok how do I rule out one or the other? Thank for info btw.

You have to have a really strong magnifying glass or microscope or a good macro feature on your phone camera. Get close enough to see a single spot, and if there's a darker ring around a lighter center with a single black dot in the middle, you have septoria.

If the spot looks less ring like with more random edges and uniform color it's likely Ca. The last option would be manganese but that usually shows up on a much more yellow leaf.

yes i agree also with leaf septoria
your probably not watering correctly,.
do you have gnats as well?

Have fabric pots on self watering bases. Always have gnats. It’s mostly likely the Miracle Grow soil but they are harmless. I usually put a cup with apple cider and dish soap in tent to kill them. Also they are harmless dehumidifier attracts them and kills them too. The affected leaves are in the middle. Does that help? Gonna try getting better pic and see if that shows what Grownsince95 described.

Ok my iPhone XR is not gonna get that close a pic. But how do I treat calcium deficiency? Maybe process of elimination.

@GNick55 asked you about the gnats for a very specific reason. They either carry septoria from whatever little dirty place they come from and infect your plants with it or they weaken your roots enough to make the plant more susceptible. Probably a combo of both.

Either way, it's a sign that your process of elimination should probably work the other way. Septoria can wipe out your entire room, Ca deficiency is a minor inconvenience.

Get a small digital microscope that hooks up to your phone from Amazon. Best $20 you'll ever invest in your grow.

Thanks for the info. I didn’t think they were anything more than a nuisance. I will be more aggressive about removing them. I bottom feed which helps and I will put some soapy fruit juice in tent again. Is there anything else you recommend for them? I read that CalMag is good for calcium. Is that what you’d suggest? So far none of other plants are showing same signs. Can that be enough to decide it’s a calcium issue?

For the gnats get yourself mosquito bits or any product with bts and you water it in. You have to kill the larvae in the soil not just some unlucky flying adults.

For the Ca, if they were my plants I wouldn't do anything. If it's like you said and only one spot on one plant and it's not on the top most growth, there's nothing you can do about it now.

Get the microscope. It costs 3 Starbucks coffees. You will use it every harvest to accurately check for ripeness and it will save your ass when the invisible mites and septoria comes to visit.

Macro lens for my phone is on the way. I did something really stupid yesterday even though I told myself not to. While I was trimming off infected leaves I also trimmed a few leaves from other plants. Now I’ve probably infected all of them. Maybe I shouldn’t be high when performing operations. Wouldn’t want my surgeon to be stoned. I almost want to put that plant outside. That’s not easy either and would involve potentially stressing the best plant. I’ve done everything to keep environment stable by using uis controller and self water bases. I started journaling and using minimum amounts of fertilizer. Now there is this. Grr. Cost me $300-$400 for soil, fertilizer and extra utilities so I need to recover that and have an oz for myself. I’m probably going to get just that. Which is ok considering but a couple extra dollars would be nice. Anyway, I want to focus on sterilizing the entire tent after this harvest and I think Miracle Grow soil is not any good. I get those gnats every time and some bags have had like sand in them and some even have mildew when I open them. I’ve mixed the bag together and allowed to sit outside for a few days before using. What would you suggest for growing medium? Is there a brand that I can go to Home Depot or local nursery to get? I appreciate all your help. Last few grows always had something go wrong that limited yield but I still got some good buds. I’m waiting for that perfect grow. My plants are always really healthy until something unusual happens.

you need to stop the self watering as it’s the most likely reason for the gnats,. the gnat larvee is what can eventually kill your plant,. that is the issues you need to deal with,. the watering method your using can cause too many issues with pests, nutrient uptake etc etc,..

That’s in complete opposition to what majority of people say. Bottom watering is best way to discourage pests. Also , never have issues with over or under watering. Nutrients I feed from the top so I can better control amount and prevent buildups. Other than this issue the plants are loving life.
