swamp tubes intrigue me as well. that dog looks like quite a little trooper hahaha mans best friend, taking dogs to your spot is good they piss all around there and the deer can smell it, another good idea, is to get some random hair from a barber, stuff it in panty hoes and hang in trees, your hair is one of the most human smelling parts of your body, or grab your self some irish springs soap, the bars of it and set it out. AND for F**k sakes don't use your own hair, hahaha

agreed on the soap and hair, although i'm not sure i'd be comfortable asking a barber for his customers hair lol. last season i decided not to even use my dogs hair in fear it would somehow get back to me.

don't ask for the hair just hit a supercuts dumpster up after hours.....

IDK if i am ready for the outdoors all this talk about piss and shit makes me glad i have RO water and a panda coverd room lol. i will break down and try this one day though for sure.

Nice photos Cheech, thanks! Hey, about that photo of the field with the deer stand: I've hidden plants in thick stands of saplings like the one on the other side of the field. They're like little trees that max out at about 10 feet tall, right? I don't know the name of the trees, but they grow in clumps like this and are so hard to walk through that anybody would walk around that patch instead of through it. I've waded into the middle of it, then cut down a small clearing for a few plants. Around the clearing (south side), cut the trees at a 5 foot height or so, making a window for sun to get to the patch. Prop up, tie, or weave the cut down saplings into a fence around the spot. I only did it once, since it was a bunch of work, my marshy spots are easier, and I tend to be lazy with prep work. Another idea, though...

LOL. nothing like it though bro, it gets you outside which is whats so fun about it. however, if you don't have a safe spot don't bother. it's not worth it if you might get busted. i wouldn't be doing this if i didn't have access to this land from my old mans property which borders it. some people talk about planting state parks and what not, problem is, cops have as much access to a park as you do.

hey boroboro, i've also gone in the middle of those weird tree thickets and cleared openings. your right, no one in their right mind would try to push their way through them, unless they were going to grow pot there haha. i would for sure do more of that this year, but i've got some pretty good spots going on already. plus i'm also lazy with prep work, aside from digging holes.

right now, i've got my spots, i just need to start cloning like a mofo, which won't be a problem cause i've already got plenty of plants in veg. i'll start taking clones in a few days off my two afghan plants which i already threw into flower since they were taking up so much space in the veg room. looking for 100 clones off of them.

Hi Cheech and thanks for the encouragement. I was at my spot on the weekend and have five beds in various stages of getting ready. The ground here is still partially frozen below the first couple of inches so the digging can be hard. To make a bed I am picking a sunny spot, clearing away the woods debris and digging. The soil here is not that great - about 3" of loam and moss etc., then an inch of two of clay, then an inch of two of rock then dirt. There are also a lot of roots. My beds are about 5' X 5' when I am finished. I put some pelletized lime in the bed to help with the soil acidity and mixed in some organic dirt. I want to work in some cow manure and sheep manure in a couple of weeks when the garden supply shops get it in. I hope that will make for some happy plants! Any other suggestions on getting soil ready would be appreciated.
I was at my last patch late Saturday afternoon when I got spooked by noise in the woods. Something was in there with me that I could not see and all I could think about was coyotes. There was a 19 yr old girl killed by coyotes in NS last fall. Rumor has it she was sitting on a walking trail with an Ipod on and never heard the coyotes. I was thinking about this when I was kneeling on the ground digging in the dirt and listening to the noise. It finally spooked me enough that I left - your mind can play tricks on you when alone in the woods!
I forgot to bring my camera but will try to remember it next trip to take some pics.

exciting. glad to see some MI heads playing in the woods. Wish I had some land. It's only getting cheaper ;)

just plant outdoors anywhere in Detroit it's all deserted anyways...

woodspirit. i've also made some great clearings in thickets, but i ran into the problem of too many roots in the ground which is understandable, since i had just cut a lot of stuff out of the way. that's the reason i chose spots that were already cleared out, because i didn't want to hull soil to the grow site. if that is your only option, then it sounds like that's what you'll have to do. it sounds like on the right track with the lime and dirt. it should be fine. hopefully you kept in mind how you will water them. my spots are real close to the water table and stay pretty moist throughout the summer. watering regularly outdoors is a good way to get caught by the man of by thieves.

planting in detroit sounds like a good way to get stabbed/shot or ripped off by a bum. if your not within close vicinity of wayne states campus or the downtown areas be careful. doesn't matter how tough you think your are or what your skin color is, the locals will know you're a stranger which is reason enough to rob your ass.

well, i've got quite a few afghan clones chillin in beer cups. i'm feeling a little silly, because it's pretty early in the game to have all these. but i had to get things rolling, because i don't take clones off of full time mama's, but off of plants that have been flowering for two weeks already. i'll probably have to put these out in may. whatever.

at least i'll be able to take clones off of them throughout may and june.

Looks good broham. Its always good to get an early start for outdoors get some nice healthy clones out there and man they love it in MI.. just gotta take care of all the little fukers wanting to get a munch on. But good luck and keep it Dank. HDK

I started my outdoor also. I have 40 clones vegging a mix of purple wreck/white widow/big bud. N from seed I have JackHererxBlueberry

thanks hdk. early is better than in this instance. if i need more room i can always throw clones out, as hard at that would be lol. i actually ended up throwing some rooted clones out because i didn't have enough beer cups and was running out of room anyways. it wasn't easy.

rawman where abouts are you? did you breed those mixes from dutch/spain/canadian genetics, or are they club mixes from cali? nah, if they were cali mixes they would have names like purple nurple X bluebonic chronic the 3rd. hehe. feel free to post some pics.

Cheech you are in great shape for the outdoor season. Hell just eyeballin' em you have 70 clones there.

It has been real nice around here with above average temps and it really gives me cabin fever. I am psyched to get going. However, it is still way too early around here and up there in the mitten. Hell you can still probably ice fish.

Keep up the good work guy. I bet you will rock the outdoors this year.

here is food for thought.....

if the police need a search warrant in Michigan to enter your property if you have a gate on your driveway doesn't that constitute a locked environment? is this a way for a legal outdoor grow in MI!?!?!?!?

if you did not know about the gate being the point of entry where they need a warrant and you can put a gate up do so and keep it closed. cant see stuff through your windows 50 yards away on the sidewalk now can they?

thanks guys. yea, about 60 clones in cups now. i'm helping a couple guys get their grow on, and sold them 20 clones. it was a good deal for both of us. but tober, check out the bubble cloner next to the cups, i've got another 100 in there :). and i'll top all the afghans soon for even more.

i was reading a thread on unleashdagreen where this dude was talking about how he has this system of cloning, veging and flowering indoors for 2 weeks, then putting the plants out the last week of june or the first week of july. says he has great success with plants that are ready to harvest by the end of august. says he can have sativas done by the end of september with this method, so it's definitely something i want to try out this year.

x i have no idea about growing outdoors legally in mi. i haven't for the last 3 years, and don't have any intentions of doing so this year. my bet is that it would have to be a locked greenhouse in order to meet the requirement of a 'secured facility'. i'm just going to grow on some vacant property that runs alongside property i have legal access to. that way if the fuzz does find it, it won't really matter. i would hate to think that my grow brought trouble to the actual property owners though.
