Week 1 - Flower

End of week 1 flower. I'm loving the Earthboxes so far. Both are drinking about a gallon every 5 days. Plants went from 11" to 16" that first week of flower.

Both plants have 8 growth sites and I will top once more to give 16. The nute burn is looking better now.

It's been 6 years since my last grow (Grape OG) and I'm eager to get back into it. I wanted to grow 2 plants so decided on Permanent Marker from Seed Junky and OG Kush (Sensible Seeds). The OG Kush seeds were 6 years old and were stored in a room that swung in temps from the 50's to the 90's. None of those 5 seeds germinated, so I tried germinating 5 Purple Punch seeds from the same stash (Barney's Farm, also 6 years old), and none of those germinated either.

At that point I just decided to run another Permanent Marker for the 2nd plant and that plant is about 8 days behind the first one. So here we are at day 14 for the PM #1 and day 6 for PM#2.

I'm leaving town for 5 days so fingers crossed the house sitter follows the watering directions.

Thanks, I haven't tried Permanent Marker yet, really looking forward to it.

All the best for the grow I'm keen to see the progress..
Thanks, the house sitter didn't kill anything (unlike the last time I grew and my house sitter killed all 4 of my plants).

I transplanted one of the plants into the Earthbox this morning and should have the other one in its Earthbox in a week or so.

Good to hear they survived mate . Earth box is something new for me, very interesting..

The plant on the left is about a week ahead of the one on the right. I'm going to mainline the left one and do a quadline on the right just for shits and giggles. I topped the left one above the 3rd node and removed the lower shoots a few days ago and starting training. I topped the right one two days ago and left the 3rd and 4th nodes. I haven't started watering from the bottom yet. Actually, I haven't watered at all since I transplanted the left one 14 days ago as the soil is still moist.

The two shoots on the left plant starting showing a light green border around the leaves with a little taco looking structure as well. I wouldn't have thought it was too much light as the DLI is only around 26, so on the lower end for veg but decided to add some soft wire and bring the shoots a bit lower and flatter anyway as I was going to be doing that in a day or so anyways.

Looking good mate interesting use of the bud clips. That slight tacoing my be leaf structure they look healthy as.. Look like the earth box makes it easy to mainline with those bars across the top..

Thanks, it's been a fun grow so far. Those bars across the earthbox are something I whipped up using 3D printed clips to hold the bars and then just some stainless steel rods from Amazon. The earthboxes are designed to hold a couple more gallons of amendments by mounding up on the top of the soil so I may need to make some new clips that are taller to clear that mounding if I still need the tiedowns at that point.

Love the earth boxes man! 🍿🍻

Mainlined Plant - Veg Day 21
Some help from the Infirmary points towards too much nutes (the amendments to the BAS 3.0 soil when I transplanted) and the light being too close. I moved the light to 24" and am at around 350 ppfd. The top branch is rotated a bit so the leaves coming out of the top node are now pointing up/down versus the leaves on the lower node pointing left/right. I'll be doing the next topping in the next couple of days. I haven't decided on how many toppings I'll do, but will likely go with 8 or 16 colas. I watered from below for the first time today, gave 1/2 gallon.

Quadlined Plant - Veg Day 15
I wasn't quite sure how I was going to attach the soft garden wire to the Earthbox to train the branches before I started the grow but these 3D printed clips seem to be working well. I wish I would have oriented the plants better when I transplanted as both are rotated off center a bit which is triggering my OCD.
