@showmegreen -- look into the dwarf Africans. Just as hardy (I have found that, on the whole, African cichlids out of the three major rift lakes, those being Malawi, Tanganyika and Victoria, are the hardiest of fishes to keep) as their full-size mbuna brethren.
Ok, that's a new genus since I've worked the biz. My African cichlid ID bible I bet is no longer relevant.

Sounds like my cats, anything on 4 legs with fur are not welcome lol.I have to find a new home for one of our cats, most likely the female since she's not destructive, a whiner, a yowler, and adapts to new humans. My male cat keeps trying to kill her. I've done everything I possibly can but funds for new cat shit have just about run out.

William grew up with his sister, Boudica, so I figured we could bring in another cat, especially a female, easily and he'd be cool with it. I've had cats all my adult life and have NEVER had a cat act like him, EVER. He's yowling right now! She doesn't want to kill him, she hisses at him for good reason. He, on the other hand, hunts for her and whenever he gets a chance, it's on. It's awful.
And so far no luck finding a home for her, and I can't bring myself to take either cat to the shelter, I just can't.

That's Kee Kee. She was abandoned by someone, they sold their house and left the cat. The woman who bought the house fed her and tried to incorporate her, but her cats kept trying to fight her and her dogs kept trying to chase her and to top it all off, she had two toddlers in the house (with another on the way!). She lived a tough life before we took her in, so she only wants out sometimes, and then it's a couple of hours at the very most.
