Pipe Resin Prossessing

Is there any way to "clean" the resin that you scrape out of a cannabis pipe? I remember the days when we would run out of pot and scrape our pipes and smoke the resin. DISGUSTING!!! to say the least.
I have a golf ball sized wad of this stuff and was wondering if there is a way to get the oil out of it, or make it into a hashlike material.
