Plant Spacing and Light Layout

I have to say I am gobsmacked:harvest: Is this your grow Tyree? I presume so based on the root pic? Off the hook mate, simply stellar job:rock

Seeing as how most guys seem to struggle for 1-2lb'ers so far in the mpb system, is there anything in particular you feel attributed largely to the sccuess? Apart from following DD's recommendations of coarse. And did you get many 3 1/3 lb'ers? What do you reckon the average was across the room? Thanks for your time and congrats again:)

Yea, it was my grow. Thanks a lot! The 3 1/3 lb plant was my biggest in the system. My average was closer to 2, and my black domina genetics were super fire but yielded only around 1lb per. Its still a work in progress.

Please don't miss understand 40" is not THE way. Its a strain depended distance. The big advantage to having your lighting close together is the extreme light intensity and light equals growth.

Really like what Mr Dizzle is doing with multiple plants per grow site and vertical lighting.

This could be an easy way to get more weight out of low yielding strains.

Amazing first grow brother. The root beard is sick. What kind of totes are you using & how much water did they hold? Congratulations again on the first grow in the MPB. Looks like your going to have a to get some more drying screens :rasta2:

Here are a couple layout pics. The pics were of my biggest plant of Mr. Nice (3.3) and the overall yield average was close to 2lb. The Black Domina turned out great but weren't vegged quite enough and got closer to 1lb pulling down the average.

I use a 5-ton central air unit on a closed loop which is plumped throughout the top of the room. I also have a couple 16,000btu portable a/c's but i probably won't use them until summer.

Tyree I noticed in your pics you are using the 50 amp loadcenter from sunsystems, Have you had any problems with the 240 part continuing to blow breakers even though the circuit is not maxed out?? Reason I ask is when I was using those loadcenters I always had problems with a blown breaker no matter what configuration the lights were plugged into it. Ever since I tore them apart and used the plugs from them to build my own Load center I have been much happier and feel much safer!!

yes i agree, the 50 amp loadcenter from Sunsystem will only run 6-7 lights without constantly blowing breakers. I have extra plugs room so its not a big deal for me

Interesting...I think it might have to do with the breaker configuration they used. I took the dual 20 amp breaker sunsystems used to an electrican who said that it isn't set up to run 240v the center 2 are but the outside 2 aren't....I remade a loadcenter using the same specs (20 amps per 4 240v outlets, I just used separate 20 amp breakers and I can run the full 8k with no problems)

Either way its still kinda lame that a product that claims it can run 8K watters safely simply can't. Bad electrical work scares the shit out of me so hopefully people see this and will think twice before purchasing one of these units.

Hello everyone, I don't know if it has been covered but just went for a little analysis on spacing and light efficiency assuming

- 4 lamps equals 100% equals 4pounds/light ( 4 pounds used only for ratios, changes nothing)

Did it for fun, if it can help.

Weighting= Light efficiency ( one being perfection)
Per light = (# Plants / # Lamps) * Weighting * 4 pounds

It is not scientific, it is not perfect but it can give a good idea,

Conclusion : More square, less rectangular and BIGGER if you can!

are those diagrams of your room from widowmaker, is it saying your spacing is 4' 8'' on the plants side to side and north to south, and 40inch on the diagonal ones?

iConnor, Agree with your conclusion. How does the average work out with these two designs. The problem is guessing at the percentage of yield on the perimeter plants. This layout is the more standard type. The layout used in your examples are rotated 45*

Those above layouts are not like the original posters or what most here are doing.

I know they were members on here that did not like the above layouts compared to the xoxoxo pattern like the original poster of this thread has.

I know both these patterns look very similar but for some reason a xoxoxo pattern has yielded better. I know that coxie was "not impressed" with the above style layout and I know dd's big 40+lbs room and 1st timers room, which is a sticky in this forum, all have a xoxoxo pattern rather than a

all my opinion of course.

Its really the same thing. The important factor as far as yield is concerned is how lights are around each plant.

Your right bro, I was in my room and it doesn't make a difference, I had to see it in person to understand lol. Luckly I have a visual downstairs hehe. I know you posted about the 45 degree angle but my stoned ass didnt put 2 and 2 together lol.
