When you pour more nutrients into an already pre-charged soil, you can not only overfeed them greatly, but also screw up the Ph and stuff because the soil is full of everything needed, and additions can raise or lower the Ph, causing all kinds of issues. I always maintain that it is a LOT easier to add nutrients than to get them out. Flushing might help, but since the soil is chock full of nutrients, flushing might not help as much. I would give it a try, and go easy on the nutrients. If it is taking your soil 5-7 days to need watering again, you might want to add some perlite to the mix to allow for better draining. Promix is great if you can get it, as it really can eliminate the overwatering issues.

Excellent advice...too much water and nutrients. In growing, more is not better.

Looks to me like your killing them with kindness. They look heavily manipulated, as in way over pruned which will stunt their growth big time. As will lighting without the correct spectrum. Blurple lights seem to grow plants with shorter internodal spacing. And yeah with that soil I wouldnt feed anything but plain water from the beginning, at least u til they look hungry.

See that's why I'm glad I joined this forum. Thank you guys so much. I will definitely tone down on the nutes.
So for future reference when growing a photo period do I even need all the nutes included in fox farm's line?
My Autos are doing great but then again I have only given them Big Bloom and cal mag.

I am guilty of excessive topping. I guess I wanted to try all the techniques I was reading about. That won't happen again

Excessive topping puts a strain on a plant...just like trees shouldn't be topped. When you top heavily all you do is create a bunch of weak branches. You want strong branches to hold/support the large flower heads. Too many weak branches in turn leads to a smaller, less productive plant.

Yea I'm kicking myself in the butt. I was hoping no one said root rot.
Ok so how does that even happen (root rot ). I been using a water meter the whole time.
Also I have 2 sour patch kiss that got the same feeding and they are fine.
Ok so does anyone have a suggested feed schedule I could use? Or does it just come with experience?
What fertilizer works good ?
Should I not use fox farm soil?

Stop using the moisture meter for one. Water when they feel light, it will take practice but you'll get it. Should take 3-5 days between waterings.

And with something like ocean forest you wont need to add any other nutrients for a while, like 4-5 weeks of growth., when they start looking a bit pale you can introduce a low dose simple nutrient. I personally prefer one part for ease of use, such as floranova or pure blend pro. You won't need all the extra crap they're trying to sell you. Keep it simple.

As for pruning etc... A topping wont hurt, I top mine, but the less you manipulate it the better imho. Some people pull off some wild looking scrogs but it's not a beginner technique, you need very healthy plants to start with and you need to allow time to recover from stress etc.

In your case I think you've just overwatered and overfed. That's the main issue.

Ok will do. I will keep it simple and I will stop using that meter. Some plants I did water by just lifting the pot to judge so I do know what your talking about. Again thank you so much for the input. I will post an update in a few weeks.

I do have one more question. Why did my sour patch not suffer the same fate? It was fed the same? Just curious as to why the GSC got sick and the others didn't?

Could be just that it was sick. Some plants have stronger tolerance and immunity to conditions that are less than ideal. Could have got to root rot. Maybe was just more sensitive to overfeeding.

Fox farms is excellent soil...but since it already has everything you need in it you can't fertilize like you would with plain top soil. Root rot happens from over watering or the roots are burnt. Salts can build up in the soil with too much fertilizer. When leaves turn yellow and drop that is a sign of over watering. It will be interesting when you do harvest to pull the plant and look at the root structure. Happy frog is a really good fertilizer...use only the foliage pro for the first month once a week,..remember your soil is still very rich in nutrients. Once you go to flower using a big bloom fertilizer you can add every 5 days...
i notice people getting too anal over their plants...use common sense and get to know your plants.

Could be just bad genetics in that seed. Not all seeds grow or even sprout the same. All of the plant kingdom has that problem.

Everyone who owns a probe meter should take a hammer to it right now, you'll be doing yourself a favor down the road
