I've had excellent results with RQS soil plugs. Not one failed to sprout. I also haven't had any stuck shells.
I think they are essentially the same product. I'd also put Rapid Rooters in that category too.
Kill...what's your RH if your not misting ...aren't Cody and first leaves feeding off conversation?

I use a humidifier connected to my UIS device to set my VPD. That early on, I target about 1.0. Some suggest less but for me, that means condensation which I like to avoid.

how many sets of leaves to those plugs get you too...whoa tiger what's all that VPD and UIL ....I'm old school. ...I'm a mountain. Man makes his soil...Walmart is 20 min away lol ..but do tell I gotta tighten my game up even more

Two things you might try... check the ppm of your well water, it might be hard and carrying a ton of it's own mineral nutes. Relating to this, if you've got that high ppm you might want to start off in coco coir with just a bit of soil added in, that should help if they're overfed from hot soil.

For watering your seedlings, start using a spray bottle with the nozzle set to stream. When it's time to water, only spritz around the outer rim of the cup and only stop when water starts to drip out the bottom. When you're done, pick up the cup and feel it's weight. Get familiar with it and you'll know when it's time to water when the cups start to feel light. Or you can ignore picking the cup up at all and watch your young plant, it will tell you when it is growing thirsty with the onset of a little sag of the leaves or the stem. Too much water and nutrients kill a plant way faster than a deficiency of either.

You probably know this stuff, sometimes we just need a reminder to go back to the basics and unlearn some bad habits we pick up along the way, if you will.

No doubt ninja I weigh on a gram scale ...sometimes the soil scientist runs into a wall ...first time in many years ....will check ppm now ...seeds back 10 years ago seemed more resilient I don't remember having quite such issues takin root..good to talk to fellow seedsman

I transplant to 1 gallon containers once I see roots trying to grow out the bottom. There's usually only the first set of leaves at that point.

You can call me a city slicker if you want. I buy my soil premade (Ocean Forest) from the local hydroponics store. The UIS system is an environmental and lighting control center made by AC Infinity. It's relatively affordable for home tent growers who are looking for a way to automate environmental controls. VPD is a temp + humidity. 1.0 KPA would be about 78F and 70 rH or there abouts. I don't have a VPD chart in front of me. My UIS system would control my exhaust fan system and my humidifier working to maintain the correct environment.

Copy that kill...I'm 12x10 space ...all my variables are nice ...I keep it kinda wild ...sometimes I'll bring some garden spiders in...everything is nicely balanced ..or at least was....

Ocean Forrest is great ...I kinda make a clone much more cost effective if you have room ...every different variety of plants love it ...it's a back breaker to make a need. 200 g dough mixer

I prefer fresh clean soil for indoor grows. Don't get me wrong, I recycle it outdoors to my vegetable gardens. At that point, I mix in Happy Frog Soil Conditioner for fresh organics and buffering. The rotation has worked fine so far for me. I'm not against saving money but I am purchasing my 1.5 Cubic ft bag of Ocean Forest locally for $13.00 + tax. It's a reasonable price to pay to pay for an outstanding prebuffered soil. It makes my life easier.

I don't use the paper towel method. I don't soak my seeds either. I've done it that way but sometimes I think that when you transfer the newly sprouted seed, the tap root gets damaged. For the last several years I've used Root Riot plugs. My success rate germinating seeds is near 100% since I made this switch. The tap root is left undisturbed and they continue to grow where when attempting to germinate in paper towels, they would stall and die off sometimes. This simple change has proven to be better for me than any other germination method I have tried.
I like them but I’ve had problems with them souring on me or they’d dry out.
Is this due to being in starters and not a humidity dome?
I still like the concept and want to use them again.

I start soaked seeds in my potting mix with 12 oz clear plastic party cups buried up as domes. It’s done well like that.

What's y'all's go to seed bank ?
whats your soil temperature like ..i went through all this over the last 2 years, i could get seeds to pop open but as soon as i planted them they would use the energy stored in the seed , then just stop. admittedly the first one was ridiculously wet, then i tried rooting cubes ( i did have good success with rockwool cubes) i tried different soils and coco, then i put a heater in the grow room and everything took off . my grow room was around 25o C but the soil could still be below 19oC especially if it sitting on concrete. plus we often water with cold water which keeps it down.
As soon as i got my soil temp up to around 23 degrees, which meant my room was around 27oC, i had 100% germination and some of them were just putting the seed in the soil and throwing a cup of warmish water over it . i will occassionaly mist with very diluted root juice, until it gets a second set of leaves.
now and again 2 would take off but i was getting 2 plants for about 10 seeds planted ,about $50. i ended up with a $5 heat mat for a humidity dome which i could fit 2 small pots in , didnt seem any point heating the whole room

I do like fastbuds for only select autos that I can’t get anywhere else.

I’ve had very good luck with kindseeds. They were well priced, good germination, and all the plants have been very vigorous.
They have a wide selection of high thc strains which I need…..high 30’s on select strains and low 30’s thc levels on several. Plus they have many of the favorites and I’ve not felt the need to question if I’m getting what I purchased from them.
They also sell F1&F2’s in some popular strains.

Royal Queen Seeds is one to look at as well but I don’t like the lack of ultra high potency in their selection. Most flower is plenty powerful for the common cannabis smoker though.

The only reason I threw royal queen in is because of long term storage potential with their packaging. It’s foil sealed plastic bubbles individually packaged. So if you got a poor environment to store seeds or worried about it saving seeds it would help keep the humidity stable for seed storage

the funny thing is about seedbanks is that for literally every person recommending one particular vendor, there be the same amount of people saying don't use it. this goes for pretty much every seedbank out there right now, hence why it can be good to go straight to breeders and cut all the middle man. no disrespect to homegrown cannabis co though it's also one of my favorites!

some decent suggestions here, rqs, fastbuds, depends what your're looking for. i'd just throw in i love @SeedSupreme, as someone else said they have stuff i can't seem to find anywhere else. they're also just big and have been around a long time so that's why i started trusting them in the first place. everything else has been solid since
