Please Help!! Is This Russet Mites?

On a positive note, if you have broad mites they will attack the pistils first and turn them brown prematurely, since the pistils in the picture appear to be healthy and white, this may be the case of the common two-spotted spider mite....it's not the end of the world if this the case.

I did notice on some of the plants the pistils starting to turn brown prematurely. I guess this would be a blessing then considering the whole no russet thing...and the world might not be ending. Thanks for the good vibes bro.

is the whole plant effected? Did this start at the bottom of the plant and works it way up the plant?

3 plants looked to be taking the brunt of the attack. The were bagged, chopped and removed to the burn barrel. other than those no whole plant looked too bad but yeah i think it started at the bottom.

Okay good to know, I don't thing you have russet mites, with the russets you'll notice them in the new growth, the new growth will look thin and crispy. If you happen you notice any white-fly activity you'll need to be really proactive in combating the white fly, russet mites like to catch rides on the white flies legs.

doesnt look like russets.. almost looks like spider mite damage

that what I was thinking also... it looks like it could be a combo+ some tad of thrips damage also....

Does anyone know what states are having problems with russets?

Here in colo i dont see em that often. A few years ago some of my guys and myself got hit with em. Colo russets are devastating when found infested in bud.

I want to say yes however, there are still lots of bottom area on affected plants that are not as affected and regions higher up the plant. It does seem to of started at the bottom though.

typical spider mite behavior...you can see spider mites on the bottom of the leaf in one of your pics. If you flip a leaf over and stare at it for a little bit you should be able to see little black and yellow bugs the size of a pinhead crawling about and probably some very tiny webs on the bottom of leaves...if you just start spraying your plant with water every day or every other day they should go away after a while if you're outside. Spider mites have been a bitch outdoors in colorado this year, no clue where they're coming from but they're literally everywhere this year

Follow the clones and or soil (medium), that is why I start from seed and build my own soil.....I see tons of ladybugs in my worm farms tearing up soil mites and when the mites dissappear the lady bugs go on vacay.

maily finding them in the wild...all over pine trees, vivernum in my yard, they're on my cucumbers in the garden...idk maybe I'm just noticing the signs more haha

Very true, maybe grow some geraniums, dandy lions, and crysanthiums to try to attract some mite and aphid predators. Just thinking out loud. Good luck everyone on preventing and battling the aphid and mite infestation. Peace

@al frey these 3 pics are the same leaf. Tough to get a good angle or visual without a scope. if i can see them moving can they russet? Can you have multiple mites at once?

Russet mites are so small you need to have a 300x microscope to see them. you can see the damage with a 200x but it looks alot like trichomes that havent developed right. just a bunch of white dots everywhere. The leaves will start to taco up and hook in all different directions those look like 2 dot spider mite damage to me
