Hi All,

I've set up a super basic grow never done this before and was just for fun and being interested.

I wasn't looking for an amazing grow or anything.

I'm on week 11 of flowering and would like to know how this is looking.

I've stopped giving nutrients on week 7/8 as I thought this would be 2 weeks out from finishing but looks like this might not be the case now on week 11.

Some nutrient deficiencies by the looks of it at the moment but too late to add anything?

Current temp with lights on is about 21 to 23 degrees and off is 17 to 18 degrees.

Currently in a 12/12 lighting.

Some other info is I do not know the strain, found the seed from a friends smoke.

Growth stage was about 12 weeks.

I did have to repot at week 8 of growth due to overwatering but the plant came back to life after that.

Any advice on when this will finish or how to improve.

Please see attached pictures.

Thanks All

Looks done to me. I would stop tending to it and let it just sit for a few days then harvest.

I cant see that well to call it myself
Can see a bit off amber however that looked like it was on a leaf & not the buds.

The trichs on the leaves will turn amber earlier than they do on the buds.

That said you’re definitely in the in the ball park somewhere. Without a proper microscope pic it’s real hard to say 100% if it’s ready now or needs a week

The old fan leaf damage happens the leaves act as a buffer and aren’t needed come harvest time.

I can’t see any deficiencies by the way.

12 veg time is a long time obviously you figured out you was overwatering witch accounts to why it got a bit stunted as after 12 weeks it should look like a tree unless you was defoliating too much.

There are sparse in bud sites & it won’t be a massive yield however it’s a learning game & for your very first grow id say well done.

If it seems I’m being a bit critical to others I was asked my opinion & just gave a honest one

That said as said I think you’ve done well & hope you enjoy the adventure.

Next time try a bit of lst ( low stress treatment ) ; tie the tops down witch makes it bush up & develop more flowering sites

Hey mate,

Thanks for the response much appreciated.

Yeah, I have a 90x and 60x magnifier but cant get a good picture.

I would say there are more amber trichomes on the leaves coming out the buds right now but the trichomes on the bud there are a few amber and the rest more cloudy and a few clear.

The pistils are all brown with no white ones.

I think your right maybe another week as some of the top buds nearer the light have more amber in the bud than lower down.

What would you say in terms of cutting too early rather than too late?

Thanks for the tips and will try that next time for sure.

Ill try and get some more pictures if I can.

She looks like she’s in a decent early harvest window. Without knowing a lot more, I can’t really give any advice on how to increase your yield. The post advising to do some LST is spot on.
I usually top my photos once, then once the two new main branches are tall enough, I’ll tie down the taller branches and really open up the plant.
I’ll usually remove the bottom 1/2-2/3rds of the bud sites but leave a nice skirt of big fan leaves at the bottom.
This lollipopping technique coupled with tying down/opening up the plant will result in a more even canopy with many many more tops.
If you’re not seeing a consistent presence of amber trichs, I’d give her another week and chop. Some strains just don’t go amber like others; and if you keep waiting for ambers that never come, you’ll lose some of the volatile terpenes…..and u do not want that to happen.
Good luck.

She's real close, what's your amber ratio?
I do see a couple new hairs.

Why did you make the decision to up pot at week 8, in the future get your heat up a bit and get a fan on your medium. If you accidentally water too much, this is pretty good practice to dry it up and air it out some.

At the end of the plants life cycle you want all the nutrients to be depleted before harvest. Therefore, you will see what you're pointing out calling deficiencies.

Your buds look like they're going to be tasty. Awesome and good luck in the future!

Thanks for the advice all.

I noticed no smell and the water wasn't being taken in by the plant so figured I had overwatered. When looking at the roots they were soaking. Cut a few off and then went for a bigger pot with fresh soil and this seemed to do the trick and got the plant growing again, hence why I went much longer into the growth stage.

I'm wondering if the flowering stage is being delayed or going on for longer is due to the set up and conditions. I only figured out 3 weeks ago that at night my humidity was going up to 65 -70 with temps around 22 23 degrees C. From what I read that is way to high for flowering stage.

Do you think this would have had an impact on the length of time it has taken to ripen and finish flowering, especially with the trichomes?

I've managed to get night time temps down to 17/18 with humidity no more than 55/56.

Also any advice on time of day I should harvest this or 2 days lights off as I read about that too but no real evidence to say that makes any difference.

When I do harvest should I leave in the dark with low humidity and temp but not too low it dries out too quickly?

Thanks All

The up pot and messing with the roots as you said was definitely part of the slow down/delay in growth.
The humidity being that high is part of why your pot was staying as moist as it was as well.
I've always done the 48 hours of darkness before and just recently started testing it with partial crops being cut last day of 12 hours of light. The bro science of the darkness has never made sense to me and now that I've been testing it I can say it does nothing.
When I harvest I shoot for 55% to 65% humidity and 50° to 60° Fahrenheit.
10 to 16 day hang time depending on size of plant.
Hope this helps

to early & it has a grassy taste if you go over a tad it won’t hurt but loads & it won’t be nice.

As soon as the lights come on in the morning is the ideal harvesting time as the plants at it peak thc production for that day.

Over watering does slow the growth down.

Some strains take that amount of time some longer

After you’ve harvested yes put them in the dark
Don’t go over 70% humidity as mold gets a chance to grab hold ideally around 60% humidity

Will keep you all posted.

Thanks again for the help.

Looks almost ready - they will slowly die off and take up nutrients in the plant thus the yellowing leaves and the pistils should be pretty much orange - check that frost with your smartphone up close and see if they are all white like plastic looking if so its done amber colors will make it more sleepy white is full thc and clear ones are not ready yet - mine just finished overnight I looked yesterday and nope and today yes - keep eye on it looks good to me and I have done it for many many years

Your right to a point
I should of asked how do you like your high
No amber will be a tad racy some like it however most I know off will go for about 10%-25% amber obviously 25% being sleepy
10% is the minimum I “ personally “ prefer
Not so racy nor to couch lock

its the next day now and im seeing a few more amber trichomes on the buds themselves.

i think a more relaxing high although would be good to fuction a bit. Ive read less amaber and withba more head high theres more chance for anxiety. I do like a head high though.

Think ill leave it another day or two, kinda nervous to cut down too early.

I am seeing the sugar leaves around the buds getting smaller/drier. I think this is from thr fan though?

Any ideas if this is an indica or sativa plant? I know sativa takes longer to finish which maybe the case?

Cheers

Hi All,

Just an update. I've cut this one down and set the dry out.

Have hung the branches upside down and will try to keep humidity below 55 and temp below 20C.

I think I had issues with the plant roots as you will see in the pictures.

Another thing to note was the soil seemed very compact and the roots didn't really grow much from when switch up to a bigger pot due to overwatering.

I also noticed the bottom half of the soil was much wet than the top half. Thinking that all the nutrients I was feeding wasn't really being taken in as the root system was so small.

Anyways will see how these turn out in a week or 2.

Cheers
