Thank you my friend but I ain't doing nothing but mixing nutes and watering as often as I'm able. Seriously, this just couldn't be easier.

After all the time and energy I've thrown at growing in soil this coco blows it away.

I'll have to run some in 3-5 gal pots this summer and grow trees and use the 1 gals on autos.

If this is my last year in sunny so cal i plan to make the most of it and freeze a few pounds to take with me and process a bunch more.

Lovin these colors.
The black from the cold to the yellowing of spent leafs the daily changes are awesome to watch.

The black is from anthocyanins produced by the plant during cold weather. It's belived to act as an antifreeze allowing the plant to retain water in cold conditions. The cooler the grow climate, the more anthocyanin is produced and the darker the color.

I don't care why as long as it doesn't effect plant health. So far so good and these plants, even with the winter cold continue to mature.

Black plants are also supposed to produce better smoke. I'll be the judge of that in about a month.

Wife said they look sticky. She doesn't puff but she was correct.

Buds are swelling but a lot slower than in the fall. I've never seen these colors from this strain but this is my first ever outside winter grow and it's been low to mid 40's at night and the last few days close to 80 during the day. If we can just get another 3-4 weeks of sunshine they should finish nicely.

Since downloading that cozy mag app I've just about filled my phones memory with close up pics. Whenever I'm home and the sun is hitting them the colors light up and I take several dozen pics. Can't help it.

Monday Update

Male GDP

Need the pollen. I'll move him to the swing set tent.

Hope the one on the right is a girl

If not this was a waste of time

Might be a waste anyway as our real winter should start soon with some freezing night temps beginning tonight with 30F expected. BURRR!

These 4 Chemgophers were planted Aug 25, 2 month veg and flipped Nov 1

Coco, 1/2 gal pots, MasterBlend several x's a day.

Some black leaves and pretty colors in the flowers

About 11 weeks in flower. Another 3 +/- wks to go.

A top from one in the lg greenhouse

A month younger and flipped Dec 1.

I've been taking the lower tops off a plant every few days and now have 21 grams dried and jarred.

Not near the quality of the end product but good enough to get me through the next month.

As this grow comes to an end it's time to start the next.

Happy Growing!

30 degrees this morning

Moved the girls to the greenhouse hoping it would help

All look good but if the cold caused any root damage it may not show for a few days and another freeze warning and 31F tonight.

There must have been enough sunshine yesterday to heat the ground and keep it from freezing as I saw no frost this morning and it's colder than a well diggers butt in the snow!

9am and it's almost 40F. Trying to enjoy my coffee and vape on the patio but damn. Got a fire going in the house and heading back in! BURRR!

These must be your coldest days of the year down in the low 30's. Still not bad though, how long will this cold snap last for you? I'm looking at those temps for another 3-4 months on warm days only. We're not bad here now at 32f mid day in the sun. I put a male in my little green house to see how he'd fair in the cold, not so well doesn't like the -8c nights.

Yeah this cold is for the birds!
It was 76* yesterday and the news is saying right now we'll get 6 to 8 inches of snow starting around midnight.
Our greenhouse will get to about 37* with an oil filled heater running.
I haven't moved any green in there yet though.

They better now

Buried the pots and covered in straw. Frickin' 2-3 weeks to go and I've got to deal with this shit.

And the hits just keep on comin'

90+ degrees this afternoon. Over a 60 degree swing and expecting it to drop by the same.

This years winter grow will start July 1st instead of end of August with seed and I plan on double wrapping the small greenhouse, adding a small electric heater and keep several moms.

6pm and mid 40's already. I believe anything under 70 is COLD!

Damn, -8 is not a tempeture, that's a golf score!

We get approx 200 hrs of freeze a year usually Feb-March. This was a storm picking up cold air from the Sierra Mtns and slapped us with this COLD!

I've seen young tomato plants turn black overnight and die from the frost. Maybe the high daytime temps are keeping the soil from frosting over. I don't know but tomatoes in the greenhouse are okay.

Not great, several needed water. Hope they make it. I'll know in about 12 hrs. The spinach is doing well and those poor habanero peppers may not make it.

Lettuce

And lettuce

Can you tell we like lettuce? Can't buy anything this fresh

Toy Choy

Radicchio

Broccoli & Brussels Sprouts

I need to get those into buckets.

Snap peas

These will go into larger bottles, 2-2.5 ltr and placed against the chicken wire on the swing set.

More snap peas and purple basil

They're in the seed warmer. I took 9 basil into the house last night in quart bottles.

I can grow a lot of veggies in the cold that won't grow in the summer heat so it's not all bad.

37 is a football score! I need to install geothermal heating/cooling. Burry a couple 4" pipes under the length of the greenhouse about 3' deep, bring them above ground and mount a vent fan. While it won't keep it 70 it would help keep it from jumping 60 frickin' degrees in a 24 hr period. Running a few fans would be a lot cheaper than any heating unit.

I don't know what I would do if it snowed heavy here. Not a happy place

I used espoma's garden-tone 3-4-4 and weekly horse manure tea. A light soil, peat based with compost, perlite and mulched with composted horse manure. If I do it again I'll add 20% coco.

They've taken well to the hydro nutes in coco but go easy in soil.
