A report of a verbal disturbance led to the discovery of a honey oil lab and several arrests Tuesday.
Porterville police officers were called to the 100 block of North Waukesha Street at 10:49 p.m., and encountered several known gang members who fled into a nearby detached shed.
A search of the shed revealed 29 grams of processed marijuana, three grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and evidence of a honey-oil extraction lab. A pair of loaded handguns, including one with an altered serial number, were also found.
Several subjects were detained, and Julio Ramirez, 28, of Porterville was arrested on suspicion of manufacturing honey oil, conspiracy, participation in a criminal street gang and possession of over an ounce of marijuana.
A 15-year-old male juvenile, who lived in the shed, was arrested on suspicion of the same charges, plus additional counts of possessing a firearm and ammunition, altering the serial number of a firearm, possession of cocaine, maintaining a drug house and possession of a controlled substance while armed.
Ramirez was booked into the Tulare County Jail with bail set at $250,000. The juvenile is being held without bail at the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility.
