Polymer soil mixes?

How does your weed taste after flushing those pro-mix type of soils with water holding crystals?
Don't they cancel the flushing process by releasing the nutrients in the last 1-2 weeks?
I've read an article suggesting to use those, I think it's a poor advice, no?

I have no idea! Haven't used those types of soils. This is a bump.
