Decided to try an illustrative cheapy grow using existing materials as much as possible. We do have a well established garden and compost pile. I mix my compost with used soil (if no diseases were of issue prior) and the remains of my perlite, some bone/blood meal and water with aerated aquarium water during vegging (N can be a bit high for some strains during flowering).

I tossed five unknown bag seeds into small pots on 31 Jan 2010, wrapped some saran wrap over the tops of the pots and kept them outdoors during daylight hours and under some freebie CFLs at night for 24h/day light. 4 seeds all sprouted by 2 Feb, except B2 which popped on 8 Feb.

So, here are a batch of pictures, hopefully in some sense of order....starting on 13 Feb:

the line up

from 5 April - all the plants, btw A2 was a male and was disposed of. I took a desperate cutting from B2 (already flowering :dull) and rooted it in distilled water, nothing else - this is a cheapy grow, so no hormone/B1/superthrive or anything that sucks $$$. This cutting is now under cfls 24hrs/day to bring it back into vegging, if its not an auto-flower strain..... I also took a cutting from A3 (a sativa strain?) and it is rooted and vegging just fine, she will be a mother for a while so I can get a few more plants going for the summer/fall crop

A sign of Good Fortune on 17 April 2010

Managed to snap this pic of this lovely ladybug, just before it flew off of A3...one of the benefits of having an old, well established gardens is the natural pest control..ladybugs, preying mantis, spiders, along with plants that taste better or worse than cannabis :)

Oops, sorry I missed your question. You are correct, there are NO added nutrients beyond my soil mix and some aerated aquarium water during vegging and a tad of molasses during flowering..that's it. My soil consists mostly of re-used soil and my compost in equal quantities, some bone and blood meal, some well-aged chicken droppings from the coop (gotta make the hens more efficient than just producing eggs...) and perlite as needed (i still had most of a bag around for this run).

And my wife said my plants STANK this morning :icon_cookie:

I think B2 might be an early finisher, but then I'm probably just being impatient....

Regards,
Kau
