Back to ur plants for a minute - I grabbed up a couple of banana plants from a customers yard last year , u got one in the ground and one in a 3 gallon container, I can’t seem to get them to bear fruit? Any suggestionsI just asked my wife cuz she is the one who pays the bills every month lol. She said our water bill averages about $130 every two months. So around roughly $65 a month. I admit I use a fair amount of water for my hobbies between my 3 aquariums and all my plants I definitely pull more than average. However for as much water as I personally use I try to be very water wise with my other activities for instance my wife showers everyday sometimes twice a day. I do not shower every day the only time I will for sure shower is if I'm working or sweating like a dog. Under normal circumstances if Im just chilling at my home desk or watching TV I will try to shower every other day to conserve. Believe it or not even though we are still in a drought SoCal isn't as bad as most of the rest of the state of CA. We are in a zone towards the South end of the state by the coast and as you can see below we are classified in a "moderate" drought zone. Still need to be water conscious but its not so bad yet that they are dramatically limiting our usage. A handful of years ago it was really bad they wouldn't even let you water your grass. Hopefully we get some good rain this season to avoid that again.

BTW this is my main freshwater aquarium below. This 110 gallon tank has a constant dip line feeding through it I flow around 20 gallons a day goes through the tank out the overflow and into a water holding reservoir on my patio. Everyday at 7:30 at a digital timer goes on and an auto pump pushes the water through the feed lines and auto-waters every tree and plant on the patio. This way when we go on vacation to Fiji or Hawaii every summer my plants are happy and healthy even with no one to house sit.

Excellent water conservation and use. Beautiful aquarium. I love HI (Big Island) too. Just wish I didn’t have to fly cross country to LA or SF to fly another 5+ hrs to HI.I just asked my wife cuz she is the one who pays the bills every month lol. Won’t stay anyplace but Cosmopolitan, high floor waterview. Smoking on the balcony, angle suite. Some incredible glass blowing, along with some sights in the conservatory at the Bellagio.
Too bad Vegas has gone to complete trash.

Oops didn’t mean to post that one - good catch but it’s actually mites ! In this case clover mites - just for record they are hard to kill as well ! LolIs that powdery mildew or some kind of fungi growing on leaf left side of picture or just an unfortunate reflection? Was hard to tell:)
Cosmo is REALLY nice! Has been in my top 3 park my ass destination Hotel/Casino since I went the 1stt time. Chandelier bar is awesome.Won’t stay anyplace but Cosmopolitan, high floor waterview. Smoking on the balcony, angle suite.
Your's may be more majestic, and real, but my Monarch is biggerI love all the macro bug pics. Here are a few from my old work place where we had a huge butterfly bush out back that attracted all sorts of fun insects. The first is a hummingbird moth which I think is up there with the platypus for weird-ass-creatures. The second is Virginia's State butterfly, the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail.

What lake?
On a serious side, Grand Canyon was all burnt up (although we did go on a day with a monster thunderstorm).
Climate change is real, and frightening.
Anyone dive? I haven't been able to since my last back surgery. It's pretty upsetting, as that was one of my favorite things to do.
I'll keep working to get back to this planet.

That's cool! It looks like Kid A by Radiohead.
Bananas (even smaller dwarf varieties) need a lot of space to grow. They also prefer a good feed as well. To give you an idea of size and scale my banana tree in that pic (actually 4 little ones growing in a cluster) is in a 60 gallon fabric pot. If you give a banana the right growing conditions and space they absolutely explode. I started that Banana from a 6 inch tall cutting 2 years ago. In only around 1 year the single cutting grew to a 10ft tall tree with a giant bunch of banana fruit. It very quickly went from a 10 gallon pot to a 30 gallon then to a 60 gallon. I already had to cut down that big tree and harvest the fruit. The base of the trunk was a foot in diameter as you can see in the pic below of the old chopped stock. Bananas only live until they create fruit then once the bunch is done the whole tree dies and you need to chop it down. The next generation of trees grow up from the base out of the ground these little babies are called "pups" and this is how bananas procreate there are no seeds. Modern bananas have been genetically modified by humans over thousands of years to be sterile (seedless). Only way they can grow and spread is by self creating clones that they push up out of the dirt at the base. My 4 little trees you see are already the second generation and they likely will NOT fruit in this 60 gallon pot now. 1 giant tree in a 60 gallon was barely enough space for the plant to fruit there is no way I will produce viable fruit with 4 plants in that same 60 gallon. My next move will be to repot these 4 plants into a 100 gallon. By next summer so long as I transplant them and give them more space I will have fruits again. I will be making my next planter box out of wood I plan on recycling wood pallets at the grocery store. Also pallets will be good because if I want to move the trees in the future (say if we buy a new home and move) I can rent a small forklift from the rental yard and pick up the entire tree and drop it on the back of a flatbed truck. It's insanely difficult to move just relocating that 60 gallon pot last summer from our old property to our new house took 4 guys to lift in the truck. 100 gallon will be virtually impossible to move without an army of guys this is why I will be building the "wood pallet" planter.Back to ur plants for a minute - I grabbed up a couple of banana plants from a customers yard last year , u got one in the ground and one in a 3 gallon container, I can’t seem to get them to bear fruit? Yes I love the Big Island! I was there in 2018 and we visited the "Valley of the kings" like in your picture. We stayed in Kona and in Hilo it was awesome. Snorkeling is off the chain next time you go to Big Island you gotta check out the Captain Cook nature reserve best snorkeling spot on the island. I would share all my awesome GoPro snorkeling footage however my face is all over that shit and I don't want to incriminate myself on the grow forum lol. Thats one nice thing about living in CA we can get flights from LAX to Big Island from $485 per person round trip.Excellent water conservation and use. Beautiful aquarium. I love HI (Big Island) too. OK so I know Im long winded in my posts so I apologize. Now getting to your question... Your banana wont fruit until you let her spread her wings and fly. She needs lots of space fro her roots to get BIG BIG! She needs LOTS of sun bananas are tropical they love the warm hot sunshine. She also needs to be fed some nice big healthy doses of feed. Obviously the one in the ground has the space but probably not enough food I would start feeding and watering that one heavy and see how she reacts. The one in the 3 gallon will definitely need to be repotted. If you focus on increasing these 3 things she will give you fruit... More space (aka soil to spread), More sunshine, More plant feed (aka Nitrate feeds and cal-mag). If you do this you will start to see her grow like a beast.

Totally agree about snorkeling at Kealakekua Bay from two step. Went several times from there and once from snorkeling trip boat. If I could afford to live on the big island I would. Lots of musicians visiting during mainland US winter. Saw Judy Collins concert at Honokaa Theater.Yes I love the Big Island!
