1 gallon pots. You gotta be a crust buster weekly, I take a dinner fork and break the top of the soil. I use dry amendments a lot in small pots, that way I’m not chasing plant hunger. Although, 1 gallon pots do still run you into a wall with that. The wet/dry cycles are fast. So you really gotta keep an eye there. Keep the crust busted, so feed gets everywhere and a dry amendment or 2. Thx man! I was trying a few different things with this grow. Not too sure I’m ever gonna do it this way again. Still fun as all hell though. Just tedious.

Hmm never thought of using a fork I usually just glove up and break up the top, I’ll have to give your advanced version a try… with all seriousness though. Cus I’m just wasting gloves at this point haha

Honestly though, that top inch and a half really does get rock solid you can see the difference in the pooled water on top after the break up

Yeah, it’ll run off tho the sides, drains very patchy otherwise, I do it as common practice anyway, it makes a difference, good drainage in that root zone is everything!

Oh I know that dance all too well, I can’t wait for it to be over…my pot size asks for it. I’m always lurking like a weirdo with a tea kettle! Would you like a spot? And you! You want a spot too? Sheeeeet I’m over it brother. I know what your going through. I just get happy when they eat vigorously like that.

Id like to run microdrippers but running peat moss and perlite some days they drink quick some days they slow down a bit, with automation I’d still have to check bucket weight pretty frequently to be sure I’m not over or under watering, I think coco is a bit easier to gauge as it’s always a quick dry out / rewet, but I’d have to try it to be 100% sure lol

I’m Leary of coco, I’ve thought about trying it plenty of times over the years. It’s the wet/dry cycle of it that I was most interested in. I’m one of those, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I also have a hydro rig. Just never busted them out seriously….soil is in my soul at this point. Though, I know one day I’ll do it, just to know.

Just got back from watching Oppenheimer. Great flick, was very accurate. Incredible scene doing the recreation of the trinity test. So good.
