Ok so i'm thinking again and thought, could i use a power inverter and a car battery as a backup. So what i'm going to do is (i have a battery and 1800 watt inverter) i'm going to get a marine battery case to put the battery in. Mount the inverter to that. and give it a try. Does anyone do this/Have they tried? I'm thinking for when the hurricane/tornado season hits and we loose power. Or even someone thats got a paranoia about the electricity bill. I dont think this would be a bad idea in theory right. Ive used it for camping with more yuppie types for a mini fridge and things......hmmm
Any ideas?

I would suggest trying a UPS.
Size it for your system, and realize that it will only keep the lights on for about 1/2 hour.

The battery and inverter will work (basically what a proper UPS is) but it will get drawn down right fast with that inverter. Unless you have a bank of proper deep cell batteries, the UPS will be a much better, affordable, choice.
