What's with ppl hitting me up for free seeds saying they can pay for postage? Seriously ppl seeds are relatively cheap! Just seems shady.
Society used to have a sense of shame and gratitude when it came to charity.
That has been replaced by a sense of entitlement where you are considered a sucker if you work for a living or pay for shit.
O they couch it in different terms like Karma and social justus but it is an old story.

Well generally the seed trade I think is Freebies only by rule, and I could totally be wrong, but the website isn't crossing any legal lines. So if that's the case, that is why. Otherwise, some people bit a run with a male caught out too late and do give away seed. Or someone trying to stabilize a pheno by crowd-sourcing.
But yes for now I'd say the rule of thumb is go to a vendor for your seeds.

It comes down to trust, thru membership.

Senerio...I had joined straight razor forum back in 2015. Got to know it's members, just like this place.

Couple years later , after many razor restorations for myself, I had people asking me to restore theirs. I never charged $ for my work, all was done thru trade and barter.
Not long after that, I get asked if I want to become a mentor for the forum, by the administration. I accepted and became one of the most active people there, igniting new interests and techniques to the art of restoration.

Ya just can't come into a place asking for shit. Gotta earn your badge, take some ribbing, along with give it. Let folks get to know ya, first. Someone will reach out to u eventually, and friendships and trust will soon follow.

Better to help build a bridge, than cross someone elses, while holding a sign asking for help.

And honesty. You may not have something now but may in the future and when you do be willing to give back to the cause. I've run across many great folks who are very willing to share here and have shared with me and as soon as I had something they wanted I shared back.

It's called common courtesy.

At first i didnt understand your post like folks were hitting you up for your seeds? But im thinking now folks have been offering you seeds? : )

Totally hear you! When i first joined, i had zero equipment and was barely making it by lol. A very nice member hit me up pm and offered some fans he had just sitting. I verified with another member he was legit and went ahead with the transaction ( i had some seeds i sent him in return) and i asked him to please not come and murder me and my family! Hhahah!

But yeah check their profile first and if you doubt it reach out to the mods or you can even ask around here pm if you want. The regulars can vouch for certain folks. (also considering though that this is the internet shit happens and people get burned).

✌️

I don't do any social media except this forum. As it stands now, I'm so addicted to growing and posting here, hubby would never see me again if I joined any others. LOL
Same here. The razor forum is the same as here, bunch of lifetime addicts. 😇
Though a few have U tube channels that they post how-to videos on.

Ok here is my story about how I got really jaded about helping people.
As a young family 30 years ago we were active in school activities and then boy scouts. We volunteered countless hours to friends and families who we knew in scouts and an endless series of bands.
Around the age of 9 for my son we became active in the Foster Care system. We had decided to take children that may come up for adoption.
We had three placements in 2 years. First was a young man named Cody who was a real handful but responded well to a schedule and boundaries.
The second was a pair of sisters age 9 and 6.
These 2 would follow a pattern where if they got a visit from the parents on visiting day the next 3 days were smooth but if the parents missed the visit it was rough.
We were friends with another couple that had the sisters 2 twin boys. While at a family event for the kids we talked and they said the same thing about their pair of kids in that missing a visit caused problems. They couple had some more info in that they had recently lost the only transperation to the visits.
I asked what happened to the transportation and he said something fatal for an old car but he had no clue what it was. I said there is no fatal damaged to a car on only damage that is not economical to repair. He said you know stuff about cars? I said I know everything about cars.
So out in the barn he had an old machine, for fifty odd years.
No not really he had a 8 year old GM J body like a sunbird or cavalier that had a split radiator and ran ok but obvious coolant consumption.
At the time I was an instructor for a Federal Program for at risk youth. I ran the auto shop. After explaining my " community outreach " idea to help a couple hold onto their children I was allowed to repair the vehicle and give it to the couple.
I had a bunch of help from parts suppliers I had been calling for 15 years. So many donations and a local machine shop took one of my students for a week and showed him how to grind valves and deck a head it was great.
So we present the vehicle to them. The WCCS got them liability for 6 months and the car was rough looking but every last thing on it worked including the AC.
So for 3 weeks they made every visit. The mom was looking into school. Dad had a job.
Yayy
Then a missed week and all the good times were forgotten as the kids acted out and spread their pain to our whole family.
Then the next week visit the DIRECTOR of the WCCS brought the kids home.
This is like the principle showing up at your home we were like what fresh hell is this now?
She wanted us to hear it from her.
They no longer had a car.
They had a brand new TV and computer and when she showed up un announced for missing the visit they were both drunk and playing a game on the PC.
So I find helping people I do not know to be a waste of time effort money and soul energy that I am no longer willing to pay. We still tithe our church and over the last 20 years I have prolly given several tons of food to the food banks around Warren County when I grew outside.
Every one in awhile I still get requests to run my property as an airsoft field for the scouts and we do so.
Local charity is something I am comfortable with.

At request I have an OMFG story about Cody our first placement.
