Here's some pictures of plants I grew in promix and vermiculite with perlite and dolomite lime with a little gypsum, before I went with coco. A little bud porn on some autos and a couple of photos, the pink bud is ace killer and the purple bud is Jedi glue and the auto's are gelato from fast buds. And there's one from Mephisto and it's double grape.

This was my first try at Coco with a auto, the plant didn't start to flower until day 30 and the plant is 61 days old, so you can see how fast it grew. Had another 4 weeks to go but had to get rid of it because my wife didn't want me to grow in the house anymore so gave it away, but trying it again at my buddy's house, just give him half what I grow which sounds fair to me, we vote in November for legalization for recreational use. I got a medical marijuana card to buy it but like growing my own.

Nope on coco. Peat for life !!!!

Can you be more spefic on why you think like that?

Maybe the TO can also tell his opinion what he thinks about the two media in comparison....

I grew a long time in Gold Label peat substrate (light mix) and I did now one grow in coco since and I can tell already that I am anoyed by the whole issue of salt build up in coco and how to handle it....Never left a thought about it in peat....

Learning curve,

it doesn't matter what media you use your going to screw up until you get it right...

I'm too old to want to screw up a grow or 3 figuring it out so I'm sticking with peat based mixes ( promix at the moment). I've been at it 20+ years growing & 55+years smoking pot I'm still screwing up once and a while. I'm now trying to figure out these new fangled led lights & how much feed they need....

The way I look at it is I don't have enough time left to get through the curve....lol

Coco needs to be feed every day, with 20 percent run off and you don't get no salt built up. Plant in picture was being feed three times a day, every 6 hours set up on a timer and pump. In veg run EC 1.0 and PH 5.8 when they start flowering keep the EC at 1.0 and PH 5.9 to 6.2 and never just water coco because there's nothing in it so that's why you feed it every time. I used canna coil coco that was buffered but I went a head and buffered it myself so I knew what I had to work with. I have grown a lot of plants in promix and it works fine. But coco is faster from my trial.

I started growing when I was 15 years old because I liked the look of the plant, I will be 60 years old this year so I have grown in rockwool in the 90s and soil outside and promix and vermiculite with perlite and dolomite lime with a little gypsum in doors in a 20 gallon air pot and got a little over 28 o/z out of this Afghan plant. But the Coco really surprised me so I will have to do a complete run on it before I know for sure which way I go for sure, because coco is a little more work for me. Where promix can feed every 3rd day most of the time. Here's my best one plant indoors.

Here's a picture of two little autos that are 5 days old and I feed them twice a day with 20 percent run off with EC 1.0 PH 5.8 in 1 liter air pots, after two weeks they will be transplanted to 3 gallon air pots and get feed three times a day with 20 percent run off. Thing about coco you got to start out in a small pot so you can get that 20 percent run off and that way you don't get no salt built up.

I prefer peat for a few reasons. The media is significantly cheaper for me. And I can water it every other day (15 feedings a month) to get a pretty nice yield that can range anywhere from 4oz to 16oz for one plant. Peat retains water like a sponge. To get better results from coco, I would have to water daily or even multiple times a day which I'm not interested in doing.

Salt build up is usually not a problem. If it builds up, it is easy to flush it down to a reasonable level. Bugs can be a problem with peat. Before planting, I steam it or use peroxide to kill bugs. There are commercial organic insecticide root drenches that should also work for this. ProMix HP is not too buggy. Sunshine #4 is buggy and cheaper. That is what I use.

I would think a soil grow would be easier to maintain at someone else's place ?
You go there multiple times a day ?

Yes your right, I do go there a lot, probably be best just to grow outside for free with the sun. I got 10 days to decide before they need to be transplanted. But it's nice he offered it to me.
