Proximity of cfl bulbs to each other

Basically I want to modify 1hood to take 2x 125cfl and would like to know if the bulbs are too close to each other could the heat make them break?I`d be placing them side by side with only 1-2inches between.

Why not move them further apart, not because of the heat; rather so that you can increase the about of light delivered to the whole plant(s)?

to answer the question at hand and now ask anotherone. CFLS are shocking hot to the touch but are not really that hot. Like if u bump into them u will jump but u r fine not skin melted off like hps. u can get them within a few millimeters of each other. We have ours like that

Because the hood is pre-bent and fits the space perfectly.Spacing the bulbs further apart would require the hood to be flattened out a bit and that would make it too wide to fit.
