pruning? trimming?

are those two little leaves the sprout out first supposed to fall off? can i cut them off? do they ever get bigger? does the plant even need them?

If they arn't getting any light then they arn't doing any good. I find they often drop off at some point normally early flower but that could just be me.

The first leaves are called cotelydons and you shouldn't do anything with them. They are a good barometer of how well the plant is being taken care of for the first month(s) of a plants life.

They are too small to concern yourself with as they won't detract from any other growing parts of the plant. Once they are not getting sufficient light they may die off anyway.
