New here at the farm, want to know who the led "GOAT" greatest of all time is? I know there is someone here who can answer all my quantum board questions. I used to grow under mixed spectrum years ago, hps and mh in the same small area, but from what I have read and seen on YouTube the same spectrum can be achieved with one quantum board. Also won't be dealing with the heat that two hid lamps in a small area generated or the noise that older magnetic ballast made. I am hoping to hear from growers with experience with quantum board leds.
Going to run spider farmer sf2000 in a 2'X4'X5' cab. My questions are (1) Is this enough light to produce decent bud? Ran two hid bulbs hps and mh 400 watters in same size area in old setup. (2) Will the quantum board at 27,000K cause cal/mag diffencies? (3) How much space will I need between quantum board and canopy to achieve optimal results because I will be using no till organics in large storage tubs/totes that are fairly tall with space beneath them for removing watering/feeding runoff. (4) What is best type reflective to use in cab with quantum boards. (5) How much ventilation will I need in a 2'X4'X5' space?
Here's what the light draw from the wall is on those lights: Draw power: 202.3W±5% @AC120V I copied it from your link. I have 2 250w Kingbrite QBs in a 5 x 5 tent but I also have other lights in there too. I think it's adequate but a bit more light would be better. Just my opinion ...
Heat: It looks like they are mounted on a heatsink. Mine get warm but not hot. I can touch them and not get burnt. Your HIDs produced significantly more heat than these do
Everyone says hid is so much hotter but its not true with glass enclosed air cooled fixtures. My 600 hps in a blockbuster hood runs cooler than my open 315 lec.
I agree with the led’s keep getting better but most of the info is still just hype. Every grow, room and grower can have different experiences.
HID in a tent,at 100%, hot.
LED in a tent, at 100%, hot.
You have to vent.
I have an exhaust fan. That's all it takes to keep temps under 80 ... but my tent is in my cold basement.
I would need ac in summer either way and may need a heater during lights on for led in winter. With my hid I can just turn down the exhaust fan like a room temperature control.
So many variables to consider.
Lights out temps are coldish at 60 degrees during THIS winter we've had. It's really not been bad so far. I've considered some heating to be honest.
I want 66 at the canopy in the dark to ensure the roots are in the low 60’s at least.
I went through my propane almost 2 months faster than last winter. But it was 45 degrees yesterday. Lol
if you can mount the drivers outside the tent.....this will keep your tent a good 5 degress F cooler as high as 7 or 8F.
MIGranpa would the sf2000 be able to produce decent bud in a 2'4"X1'4"X5'1" area. I am only trying to produce enough for me to control my PTSD. Will be doing only two plants at a time LST since I won't have the area to scrogg. Only want one bloom light with low amount of draw at the wall. Here's what the light draw from the wall is on those lights: Draw power: 202.3W±5% @AC120V I copied it from your link. BigCube thanks for the info I neededA compact florecent bulb can grow good bud. Just not a lot of it.
The sf2000 can grow some good bud, if the grower is competent. As is the same with any fixture.
You should be able to achieve 1g per watt of light. This is a fairly easy mark to hit. Upward of 1.8g per watt or more can be obtained with some practice.
Being as your fixture is 200w, it should be fairly trivial to get 200g from your setup. That being said, scrog and lst can help your yields massively and could up your yield to 300g or even close to 400g in the right conditions.
Good luck man.
Yes it would cover very nicely.MIGranpa would the sf2000 be able to produce decent bud in a 2'4"X1'4"X5'1" area. I am only trying to produce enough for me to control my PTSD.
