gotcha. headgrow, its going to be a bitch pruning those round pots. gonna go square next round?

Yeah, I wasn't even thinking about that when i planted them in the 1 gal rounds. Depending on how these moms look when they get a little bigger I might end up scrapping some for new cuttings and starting over in a square pot. I kind of tortured them the last run and that's what all the yellow and scorched leaves are from. I was all over the board about trying to figure out why they started to get yellow tips (I have a thread on here about it even). Long story short, my pH was too high (around 7.0-7.2) because I thought i was locking out Mg by having too low a pH, but instead I ended up locking out Zinc or Iron (I think). From there some of them started to become Nitrogen deficient. They started to recover and then I took cuttings and hacked em back. So I'll have to see where they go from here. But at least the cuttings are looking good and should pretty much all root out.

i did the square pot bonsai mom once but realized i like having moms i can pull 30+ cuts from a time so all my moms are huge. i have some moms in 5 gal buckets and others are in 2 gal and will be up potted to 5 gal. i only run 30-40 plants at a time but i like options and being able to pull cuts for friends whenever needed.

that was a new round of moms i usually start new ones and flower the old ones out every few cycles. now those moms are on the floor and are 4 ft tall. in the future i want to use a ebb and grow in my tent to hold moms but that's a little ways out still.

That won't work...

I've been growing bonsai for 5 years using this tutorial from Overgrow.

Everything you needed to know about bonsai mums but were afraid to ask from a guy whose been growing for more than 5 minutes.

Thanks, Joker I watched your tutorial and I think it might help with my root bound problem. I would think that keeping the plant cut back using the bonsai method would result in less roots. (smaller plant- smaller roots) My mothers look like lilac bushes. That's probably why the drink so much water as well. This morning I cut them way back unfortunately the roots are still there. But I have learned something for the future.

I do it for stealth reasons. My bonsai grow under 2' T5's. I do need to have doubles to get enough cuts for the flower room. I used to grow with 6 waterfarms and it was perfect. Now I grow 12-16 plants depending on strain. So now I am
Making 2 Chemdog D etc. I can fit 10Mothers in a small space but still provide enough clones for my needs.
For a perpetual,it's perfect.

Sounds like it's working for ya! Got a pic of the set up?
