Wondering if anyone has used sand as IPM during flower for fungus gnats or other critters.
Went to buy some DM and guy told me to put thin layer of sand on soil instead

You can use sand the principal behind the sand and fungal gnats is that the sand layer needs to be thick enough to prevent the adult gnats from digging down far enough to lay their eggs in the soil. If you are looking for a good IPM, take a look at beneficial mematodes as well. They work pretty well, suckers go up the anus of the fungal gnat larvae and push out enzymes that liquify the larvae and you get more mematodes in the soil.

Sand layer 1 to 2 inches thick is recommended
