hey, i am currently building a 25 bucket ebb and flow system. The buckets are 5 gallon can any one recommend a good size for my pumps to be? there rated in gph (gallons per hour) and im afraid of buy two small of ones?

would a 1056gph pump be enough? Its also important to mention i will be filling my buckets with hydroton rocks.

Thanks guys

That's 650 Liters of hydroton to fill all those buckets, that's 13 of those big ass bags you see at the hydro store. I thought I was the only farmer with a passion for rock farming, welcome brother!

I use a pump rated at 395 gph to fill 40 2 gallon pots if that helps.

Ya, in the area i am growing, water conservation is key.
well my 1056 is more than twice as powerful as your 395
doing the math with how many buckets you have. I say i shouldn't have to much of a problem

in my area that would add up to 13 x $40 = $520 just for your rocks alone.

Couple of questions for ya to consider: 1) why use 5 gal. over 2 gal buckets. 2) have you considered DWC with hydroton as a base filler?

If I knew then what I know now, I would have gone with a re-circulating DWC system. H-man's thread on DWC sure enough opened my eyes at what this method of growing can do.

Good luck buddy,

jj
