well the main goal of curing is letting the chlorophyll leave as slow as possible, which is why the bud that was only cured for a week sucked compared to the weed cured for 2-3 weeks. Chlorophyll makes ur weed smell like hay and smoke harsh and taste bad if it goes away too quickly. I don't really have an answer for your questions about potency, but the longer you cure the better weed you'll have up until a pointOk growmies, I have some questions. I will preface this by saying I do NOT smoke. I have lots of friends that do, and for the most part will be giving the large majority away.
Now, with that said, I am in the process of drying/curing the first part of my harvest. For my 1st grow, I decided to keep it small and only grew 12 plants lol
I have different cultivars and they are wrapping up at different times, so my first plant has finished, the dry went great, and its 3 weeks into the cure in grove bags. Sitting beautifully at 61% humidity in the bags! So far so good!
Now for the questions. When the first plant dried, I gave a bud to a buddy and he said he didnt get high and it really didnt have much of a smell. I was shocked and sad! After about a week, I gave him another bud to sample and he said it smelled much better and he got quite high from it! YAYYYY! Now, after three weeks in the cure, I just gave him another bud and this stuff is now DANK! Im a happy camper! He hasn't smoked it yet, but will tonight, so I will have his input later. But......I know the smells will perk up with a cure, but will the high actually improve with a proper cure?? Is this to be expected? Im going to have about 5 lbs of buds cured soon and just need to know what I should expect as I pass it out. Im tempted to just try it, but in reality, one puff of some bottom shelf bud would bake me, so I wouldn't be a good judge.
Haha, yeah, I have this weird issue where I am unable to do anything in moderation lol. I can't wait to find out what the final dried weight will be! The grow has been flawless! Build-a-soil coots style medium, a couple of top dressings with Gaia green and craft blend, and not much else. Using bottom watering with the spider farmer wicking system. I thought this was going to be MUCH more difficult to do successfully, so I went with the max our state allows. They all turned out fantastic with the exception of my blue dream that I snapped in half when doing lst. I stuck it back together and it healed itself and will end up with about 3 oz from it still lolI've never heard of cured bud getting stronger the further the time passes. But I'm not sure. It might.
I know that trichomes degrade over time and turns into can I believe.
And damn! 12 plants, 5 lbs off first grow. That's more than I did on my first grow which was 2 lol.
Believe it or not, I didnt have a hay smell at any point through the drying process. I was fully expecting it at least for a few days, but didnt really smell it at all. I have my drying tent set up perfectly with good airflow at maintaining 68 degrees at 58-60% humidity. Im on day ten today for 4 more plants that im going to have to start trimming tonight or tomorrow I thing. Im a proud papa! I love passing it out to show off!well the main goal of curing is letting the chlorophyll leave as slow as possible, which is why the bud that was only cured for a week sucked compared to the weed cured for 2-3 weeks. That's perfectly normal. The terps and THC go through a transformation as the nitrogen slowly releases. All normal. Some say it's peak at 3-6 months of curing.Ok growmies, I have some questions. You got it!12...u must be in Ohio.
Maybe .. whatever it's called...Hey Ford,
The balance between the terpenes, flavonoids and cannabinoids begins to change as soon as the plant is harvested. Using a single human as a bio marker is OK. I guess. If you don’t assay your own buds maybe you could send out for analysis. Five lbs. thats a lot of bud.
Nitrogen has nothing to do with -oid deterioration or transformations. Whatever that is.
