I couldn't find anything specific to my question, and sorry if there is.

When in veg/early flower, plants aren't taking up as much water. The consensus is to water until runoff in coco, but I've found (specifically in veg) doing that isn't a good idea when the root zone isn't fully formed with the container being used.

I'm in week 1 flower right now, and plants look great, but I got about 10% runoff midway through lights on, and the the plants stayed soaked throughout the rest of lights on, to the point where I didn't have to feed the next day cause they were still so wet. They also looked like shit when the lights went off, like signs of over watering.

So my question is, in veg/early flower, should I look to just keep the medium wet enough to keep the plants comfortable, lowering EC and not getting runoff? Or should I just feed once daily with Runoff right when the lights turn on to give them 12 hours to drink up as much as possible?

This is just until they start to uptake more water and I can get to my typical watering schedule come week 3 ish.

You could go through the search function and type in, how to water Coco for best results, then hit the search titles only. I don’t know how to link stuff.

I've been to the thread, and it has great information, but my issue is watering until runoff, with young plants, it seems to be doing more harm than good. But I guess I'm answering my own question in a sense so I'll just go lower EC with no runoff until the plants tell me otherwise.

My feed chart is

In week 2 veg

Canna coco a and b 1ml per ltr
Cal mag 1 ml per ltr
Mighty grow 1 ml per ltr
Roots exallerator 10 ml per 100 ltr

Also check my new video of the other crop on week 2 veg I’m looking to top them never done it before any advice goes a long way people and I really appreciate any comments I get ur all legends haha 😜 thanks

If my plant drinks 500ml ( 1 water bottle) I might water 700ml once just to moisturize below the root giving them something to grow into, but ibwont water til runoff...then im back to watering at 500ml, and when i notice the 500ml is drying up faster than usual, I'll up the 700 to almost a liter just once, again, just to give the roots some moisture to grow into, then I'll go back to watering 700ml until I notice the 700ml drying faster than usual, and this is repeated. Youre just tryna make sure everytime that you have moisture for the roots to grow into. Don't necessarily have to water til runoff. That's what works for me atleast

What’s up man. Sounds like things are generally going pretty well. I think listening to the plants is the right way to go. Without knowing more variables I would say check your vpd, which will greatly effect your transpiration. You don’t need to feed every day if your coco is staying super wet. It holds a lot of air, but definitely don’t want it soggy. I’d stick to same ec too if plants are looking good. I would recommend when you water less to increase your runoff to 20% if your letting pots dry back a little because that can spike ec. Only lower if they show you signs of over fertilization. Watering less means they need more each time you water, so don’t lower ec. If you see build up, flush with 5ml calmag and great white. Id just switch to every other day water until they catch up. The coco does hold food. I’ve had years of amazing grows watering every other day and treating it like soil. I’m not saying you should do that, just making the point it’s ok not to water every day sometimes. Whatever you do, just keep an eye on how they react to your changes and treat them accordingly. I’d watch your runoff ec and make sure it doesn’t climb to much above what your feeding at too. PH 5.8-6.2. 5.8 sweet spot in my opinion. Also i had the same trouble as you finding information on the forums, so I started a thread called experienced mentor from industry for this very reason. Feel free to go on there and ask questions. Myself or someone else will try to get back to you relatively quickly. I’ve grown in coco for years, been through the ringer in trouble shooting, so feel free to reach out.
