Re-amending used soil with Gaia Green 4-4-4 and worm castings. Shouldn't I be adding something else for calcium and magnesium? I was thinking Epsom salt and gypsum, but I'm still pretty new to organic growing, and this will be my first time reusing soil. Any advice would be appreciated.

Edit - basalt rock dust maybe?

I personally use dolomite lime, the ratio of cal-mag it has is really good. For extra magnessium I add epsom salts once per month with the water. The thing with epsom salts is that they dilute very easily so Id rather use them with the water.

If you check the chemical composition of basalt rock and gypsum you will see that the cal-mag ratio is not as good as with dolomite lime. That said basalt rock dust or any kind of volcanic rock is good for micronutrients, minerals like iron and silica. I use dolomite lime and volcanic rock dust from Java island.

Looks like your all purpose fertilizer has you covered

Fisbone meal, phosphate rock, insect frass, oyster shell and gypsum have calcium

Well, now I feel foolish. Ha. Thank you! I should have checked their website. I've always seen people loading their soil up on the YouTube with multiple products. I figured surely I needed more than just the Gaia Green.

Dont worry hahaha happens. Also maybe some people like to add more things, I have never used gaia green I buy all the ammendments myself but it seems like is well packed with everything they need.

The thing is, I am trying to prevent this. I have a grow going now and planned on re-amending to get a second tent going. I thought it was a calcium or magnesium deficiency. The exact same thing happened to my last grow, both times around week two of flower. Am I just not top dressing soon enough? I top dress every three weeks.

When I top dress, I am doing one tablespoon per gallon of soil.

First topdress: 50/50 blend of 4-4-4 and 2-8-4. And worm castings.

Second top dress: 75% 2-8-4 / 25% 4-4-4
