Relatively new to growing indoors in general. Curious what everyone’s experiences in reusing Pro mix HP are ? Do you need to add lime or anything else when re use? How long could one reuse, how many crops? Would it be better to switch to coco and perlite ? If so why?
May be stupid questions but could use some help.

Thanks

You can reamend soil. its best to bake it in the oven or sun if you need to reuse it right away then amend. I typically cycle out. goes in a bin with some compost and amendments then gets reused. You can always cut old soil with new. its more the risk of spreading disease you have to worry about. most farm fields are dead soil in terms of they are just living off yearly amendments.

This never makes sense to me. Its potting soil not tilled topsoil.

By the end of the grow the wetting agent is used up, the lime is depleted and the peat is all compacted and full of roots.

Whats left?

Even pro mix says the mix is no good a year from mixing even inside the bale. Because the wetting agent, nutrient charge and lime will be eaten by bacteria by then.
