6. Basic troubleshooting discipline
Advanced problems still start with basic checks.
- Measure before changing everything.
- Calibrate pH and EC meters.
- Check watering/root-zone conditions before blaming nutrients.
- Check environment before diagnosing deficiency.
- Check undersides of leaves and stems with magnification.
- Change one major variable at a time when possible.
- Give a timeline. “It looked bad today” is less useful than “it started 48 hours after transplant and 24 hours after increasing PPFD.”
- Use clear photos under white/natural light. Purple blurple photos are hard to diagnose.
