So I have a few plants that are about 5-6 weeks into flowering with average flowering of 8-10 weeks. I looked at tricomes tonight and I see some amber ones. I will offer that the tent is a bit crowded so it's mostly the top buds. Should I top them?

You could do a staggered harvest which is basically what I think you're asking when you said "should I top them?". I did this on my current grow and now have two different batches of weed drying from the same plant. So yes, I'd pull the stuff that's ready, and then drop the light if you now have more room between the canopy and then let the bottom half of the plant continue on down the path to being fully ripe and mature. If you chop the whole plant now only those top buds are going to be at peak THC. Just my two cents.
